FRISCO, Texas — Von Miller said he wants to work in an NFL front office when he is done playing, and that Will McClay has been teaching him the job at the Dallas Cowboys facility.
Miller listed the roles he would take: director of pro personnel, team president, assistant general manager, or general manager.
“That’s something that I want to do when I’m done playing football as well, whether that’s director of pro personnel, team president, assistant GM, GM,” Miller said. “I want to be in the front office in any capacity, and Will McClay has done an incredible job of when it’s not X’s and O’s or getting to know teammates, it’s just getting to know the job as well.”
“I’ve had a lot of guys in the front office that have kind of fanned that flame, whether it was Brandon Beane in Buffalo or Adam over there with the Commanders,” Miller continued. “And now Will has done an incredible job of kind of fanning that flame and getting me to live a triple dream here with the Dallas Cowboys.”
The Executives Von Miller Named
McClay is the Cowboys’ vice president of player personnel. He was in the room for the mock installation meetings Dallas ran during its defensive coordinator search this offseason, and Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer cited him Thursday in describing how Christian Parker was hired.
Brandon Beane is the Buffalo Bills general manager. Miller played there from 2022 through 2024.
Adam Peters is the Washington Commanders general manager, hired in January 2024. Miller played in Washington last season.
Von Miller’s Playing Career
Denver drafted Miller second overall in 2011 out of Texas A&M, where he majored in poultry science. He is an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, a three-time first-team All-Pro, and a two-time Super Bowl champion. He was the Super Bowl 50 MVP and the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2011.
The DeSoto native turned 37 on March 26 and agreed to terms with Dallas on Aug. 16 for one year at $5.5 million, with the deal able to reach $7.5 million.
Miller co-founded Greener Pastures Chicken, a 35-acre organic poultry farm in Elgin, Texas. He said Thursday that fullback Hunter Luepke is now a part owner.
