FRISCO, Texas — Tyler Booker has stepped up as another one of the voices in the Dallas Cowboys locker room in his second season, center Cooper Beebe said Tuesday at The Star.
Beebe, who lines up next to Booker every snap, said things have slowed down for him in his own third season and that he is confident directing traffic and giving out the identifications up front.
“He’s miles ahead of where he was. You look at him last year and he was dominating. He’s just so much more comfortable in his role and understanding of how our offense works,” Beebe said. “And just one of the biggest things I’m proud of him is just the leadership aspect. You’ve seen him really step up and be another one of those voices in the locker room.”
“And he’s just like anybody, just getting more comfortable,” Beebe continued. “It’s coming more natural to him and he can just play free.”
What Tyler Booker Walked Into As A Rookie
Dallas drafted Booker 12th overall in 2025 out of Alabama and started him at right guard in Week 1, replacing Zack Martin, who retired that offseason. Last season was the first since 2014 that a Cowboys right guard other than Martin started more than 10 games.
Booker played every snap of the Week 3 loss at Chicago and suffered a high ankle sprain in that game. He missed three games and returned in Week 7, having missed one game in his entire college career at Alabama. He started all 14 games he played, took more than 1,000 offensive snaps, and made the PFWA All-Rookie Team. Pro Football Focus ranked his run blocking seventh among 81 qualified guards.
The Two Of Them Both Lost Time
Beebe suffered a high ankle sprain of his own in the Week 2 overtime win over the New York Giants, one week before Booker went down. Dallas put him on injured reserve, activated him Nov. 3, and he finished with 11 games.
Beebe came out of Kansas State in the third round in 2024, moved from guard to center as a rookie, and has played 27 career games. Booker is 22 and is listed at 6-5 and 330 pounds.
What Is Left Before Dallas Cowboys Cuts
Wednesday brings one more open practice at The Star. Dallas hosts the New Orleans Saints on Friday at 7 p.m. CT on CBS to close the preseason.
The roster has to be down to 53 by 5 p.m. CT Sunday, with waiver claims due at noon the following day.
