DALLAS — George Pickens is a better receiver than CeeDee Lamb, Terrell Owens said on Get TO The Point, the podcast he launched Sept. 1 with comedian Chris Spencer.
Owens credited the Dallas Cowboys with adding to the offense before he separated the two receivers, and he attached his own name to the ranking twice rather than presenting it as consensus.
“I think offensively, they’ve shored up when you think about CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens,” Owens said. “Pickens is, to me personally, I think he’s a better receiver than CeeDee Lamb. That’s me personally. I think his catch radius is better than CeeDee Lamb’s. They obviously do a lot of things great.”
Pickens finished third in the NFL with 1,429 receiving yards in his first season with Dallas. He caught 93 passes on 137 targets and scored 9 touchdowns in 17 games, made his first Pro Bowl, and was named second-team All-Pro. He was the offensive MVP of the NFC’s 66-52 win over the AFC on Feb. 3 in San Francisco after catching 3 passes for 39 yards and 1 touchdown.
Lamb caught 75 passes for 1,077 yards and 3 touchdowns on 117 targets in 14 games. He missed three games with an ankle injury. Last season was his fifth straight with at least 1,000 receiving yards, a run no Cowboys receiver had put together since Michael Irvin. He made his fifth consecutive Pro Bowl and dropped 14 spots in ESPN’s Top 100 this week.
The Numbers Behind The Comparison
Between them the two accounted for 168 receptions, 2,506 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns. Dak Prescott threw for 4,552 yards and 30 touchdowns, and Dallas finished second in the NFL in passing yards.
Lamb has 571 catches for 7,416 yards and 41 touchdowns over six seasons. Dallas drafted him 17th overall in 2020. He was first-team All-Pro in 2023, second-team in 2022 and 2024, and led the NFL in receptions in 2023.
Pittsburgh drafted Pickens 52nd overall in 2022. Over three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers he caught 174 passes for 2,841 yards and 12 touchdowns, clearing 1,000 receiving yards once. Dallas acquired him in a trade in May 2025.
The Cowboys placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Pickens in February. He signed the $27.3 million tender in April, and the July 15 deadline for tagged players to sign multiyear contracts passed without an extension. Pickens is playing 2026 on the one-year tag at 25 years old. Micah Parsons predicted this week that Pickens could win the receiving triple crown.
CeeDee Lamb On The Pairing
Lamb said Monday that he expects more from both of them in their second season together.
“We can be real, real vicious together. I know that. He knows that,” Lamb said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. “And every day we strive to do it. We’ve had a lot of success together. But I know there’s much more out there for us.”
Owens caught 235 passes for 3,587 yards and 38 touchdowns in three seasons in Dallas. He led the NFL with 13 receiving touchdowns in 2006 and set a franchise record with 15 in 2007. He ranks third in NFL history with 15,934 receiving yards and third with 153 receiving touchdowns, and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
Dallas opens the season Sunday, Sept. 13, at the New York Giants. Kickoff at MetLife Stadium is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC.
