FRISCO, Texas — Stephen Jones said Monday the Dallas Cowboys flagged left tackle Tyler Guyton‘s performance in the locker room at MetLife Stadium, before anyone had watched the tape.
Dak Prescott was not sacked in Sunday night’s 28-20 loss to the New York Giants.
“Yeah, I thought Tyler did a nice job as well. We actually noted that after the game,” Jones said on 105.3 The Fan‘s “K&C Masterpiece.” “There were other places where we need to be better, but they’ve got a star-studded front. I don’t know how many top ten picks they’ve got roaming around that defense, but there’s a lot of them.”
Jones continued: “But I thought Tyler did a real nice job, and certainly Tyler Booker. We’ll see. It’s just hard to tell in the heat of the moment right there. But I did think Tyler stood out as a guy that you didn’t see as the guy who was giving up a big pressure or a big sack. So Tyler’s come a long ways, and he’s going to be a big part of this line going forward. And I know we’ll get it right.”
Guyton was a first-round pick in 2024. Booker was a first-round pick in 2025.
Where The Dallas Cowboys Did Not Get It Done
Dallas ran for 69 yards and did not produce a play longer than 17 yards. The Cowboys ran 52 offensive plays.
“I know all week our coaches, whether it was Coach Schottenheimer and Clayton on offense or Christian on defense, the goal was to win first down,” Jones said. “And, unfortunately, we didn’t get that done from the start. And we struggled to consistently run the ball on first down.”
Prescott said after the game that the offensive line was frustrated with the rushing output.
What The Dallas Cowboys Return Up Front
Dallas returned all 11 offensive starters from 2025. Tyler Smith was a Pro Bowl selection at left guard last season. Cooper Beebe is at center, and Terence Steele is at right tackle.
Prescott threw for 4,552 yards last season, third in the NFL. He finished Sunday 22-of-34 for 175 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.
Dallas hosts the Washington Commanders on Sunday at AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is 3:25 p.m. CT on FOX.
