ST. PAUL, Minn. — Santiago Moreno had been on the field for eight minutes Wednesday night when he scored the go-ahead goal for FC Dallas in the 84th minute.
Dallas beat Minnesota United 2-1 at Allianz Field. According to the club’s match notes, the seventh road win of the season is the most FC Dallas has had in a single season in the post-shootout era. The club record for road wins is eight, set in 1997.
Dallas played without Petar Musa, who missed the match with an upper-body injury. Musa went into Wednesday tied for the MLS lead with 18 goals, including 2 in Saturday’s 4-3 win over Sporting Kansas City. Musa left the locker room after that match wearing a sling as a precaution.
On Tuesday, the club announced Musa’s call-up to Croatia for four Nations League matches, the first on Sept. 26 against Czechia in Prague.
With Musa out, FC Dallas coach Eric Quill paired Logan Farrington and Bernard Kamungo up front, according to Big D Soccer’s lineup notes.
Kaick, Kelvin Yeboah, And Santiago Moreno Score After Halftime
Seven minutes after he sent a left-footed shot over the crossbar from the left side of the box, Kaick opened the scoring in the 62nd minute.
Joaquín Valiente drew three Minnesota defenders toward him on the right side of the box before crossing to Kaick near the penalty spot. Kaick put a right-footed shot into the right corner.
It was Kaick’s third goal of the season and his second in as many matches. According to the club, the 3 goals are a single-season career high. He scored 2 MLS goals in 2025.
The assist was Valiente’s 11th of the season. He is the first Dallas player since Michael Barrios in 2019 to have more than 10 assists in a season, the club said.
Three minutes after the opener, Minnesota defender Morris Duggan cleared a right-footed shot by Ramiro off the goal line.
Kelvin Yeboah tied it in the 73rd minute. His right-footed shot from just above the 6-yard box came back to him off the left post. Yeboah hit the rebound into the left corner with his left foot.
The goal was Yeboah’s fourth in four matches and his 12th of the season. The total leaves him 2 goals shy of Minnesota’s single-season club record, set in 2017.
Moreno had come on in the 76th minute, and Samuel Sarver followed in the 83rd. A minute later, on a counterattack, Sarver crossed to Moreno at the top of the penalty box.
Moreno split two defenders near the penalty spot and beat goalkeeper Drake Callender from close range, according to the AP. It was Moreno’s third MLS goal of the season.
Callender finished with 3 saves. At the other end, Jonathan Sirois made 1 for Dallas.
Quill said the counterattacks came out of how Dallas defended.
“Our collective unity behind the ball,” Quill said. “We defended beautifully tonight and found our moments to counter, we deserved to win.”
In the same report, Moreno said the result can help Dallas enter the playoffs with confidence.
“From there, we’re going to fight for MLS Cup,” Moreno said. “I think we have a great group with a lot of confidence, and we’re capable of fighting for the championship.”
“From the first minute, you could see how badly we wanted to win,” Moreno explained.
FC Dallas Returns Home To Face Portland Timbers
Dallas moved to 11-6-7 with 40 points through 24 matches. Over its last six matches, the club is 4-1-1, per Field Level Media. The club ranks second in MLS in road wins this season, according to the club.
Minnesota fell to 7-9-8 with 29 points. Its last win at Allianz Field was a 2-0 victory over the Portland Timbers on April 18, the AP reported. The Loons are 0-4-5 at home since. Wednesday was also the sixth straight match in which Minnesota conceded first, according to Field Level Media.
Before Wednesday, Dallas was 2-5-3 all-time in regular-season matches in Minnesota. Its previous win there came in September 2022.
Minnesota won the first meeting this season 1-0 at Toyota Stadium on April 22. That match was Moreno’s first start for Dallas.
Moreno played for Portland before a move to Brazil’s Fluminense. Dallas acquired him on loan in late March for the rest of the 2026 season.
Dallas opens a three-match homestand against Portland, Austin FC, and Los Angeles FC this weekend. The Timbers visit Toyota Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 12. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and the match streams on Apple TV.
