GREEN BAY, Wis. — Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker Rashan Gary had 3 quarterback hits in his first game back at Lambeau Field since Green Bay traded him to Dallas in March, and the Green Bay Packers won 23-13 on Sunday night.

Gary spent seven seasons with Green Bay. Dallas fell to 2-4 with its second straight loss.

Rashan Gary On Coming Back To Lambeau

Gary spoke in the visiting locker room after the game. He started at outside linebacker opposite rookie Malachi Lawrence.

“Cool, good energy, fans, a couple of friends on the other side. But it was great energy, man, good to come back to Lambeau,” Gary said.

Gary’s first quarterback hit came on Green Bay’s opening drive, a 7-yard completion on second-and-12 from the Green Bay 8. His other two came on back-to-back snaps in the fourth quarter. Jordan Love threw incomplete for Matthew Golden on second-and-5 at the Dallas 25, then found Golden for 12 yards on third-and-5 despite the hit, and Green Bay kicked a 29-yard field goal for a 23-7 lead.

Dallas finished with 8 quarterback hits and sacked Love 3 times. Gary said he was focused on watching the tape.

“Frustrating, understanding that the guys in the [D-line] unit, we could do a lot better. But right now, I’ve just got to go back. As soon as I get on the bus, get the film downloaded on my iPad, see things that we did good, see what we did wrong,” Gary explained. “And thank God we got another opportunity next week to get back on track.”

Rashan Gary On Third Downs And A 2-4 Start

Green Bay converted 9 of 10 third downs in the first half and 2 of 8 in the second. Gary said the second half was another opportunity to get off the field.

“Just believe in ourselves, understanding as a defense we want to get teams in third and long. We just got to find a way off the field, but just understanding this is another opportunity to get off the field,” Gary said. “Defensively, just honing in, believing in it, and do what we got to do to get [the] offense back [the] ball during that second half. We got to be a lot better and start fast in the first half.”

Dallas plays at Philadelphia eight days after the Green Bay game. Gary said the tape will show what Dallas gave up.

“Oh, it just happened. So right now it’s tough. Right now I’m just focused on basically watching the tape, understanding what we did good, what we did wrong, understanding what we gave up because going into next week, that’s where the team is going to try to attack,” Gary said. “But right now, it sucks, but we’re going to take that, and we’re just going to go into the next week and get better.”

Dallas won 2 of its first 4 games. Gary said the NFL comes with a lot of ups and downs.

“In our mind or starting the season, of course not. But just understand it’s the NFL. It comes with a lot of ups and downs,” Gary said. “But as a team, you’ve got to stay the course, you’ve got to stay together, and we’re going to get up there.”

Dallas visits the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, Oct. 26, at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CT on ESPN and ABC.
