FRISCO, Texas — Logan Farrington scored the goal that started FC Dallas‘ comeback against Sporting Kansas City on Saturday night, and afterward he was harder on the 20 minutes that preceded it than anyone else in the building.
In front of its own supporters, coming off three months away, Dallas picked the worst start available to it, in postgame comments reported by Big D Soccer.
“I thought the first 10 to 15 minutes were horrible for us,” Farrington said. “It was probably the worst start we could have had coming back, especially in front of our fans.”
FC Dallas Pulls Off A Comeback
Taylor Calheira scored inside four minutes off a rebound, after Capita Capemba forced a save from Jonathan Sirois. In the 20th minute, Stephen Afrifa closed down captain Ramiro Benetti near the edge of the area and deflected his attempted pass into an empty net.
Farrington’s finish in the 27th minute was Dallas’ first shot of the match. Petar Musa set him up. Three minutes later Musa headed in a Bernard Kamungo cross to level it, and Joaquín Valiente was credited with the second assist.
Farrington then set up Kaick for the go-ahead goal in first-half stoppage time. Dallas led 3-2 at the break and won 4-3 on a Musa penalty kick seven minutes into second-half stoppage time.
Logan Farrington’s 2026 Production
Farrington has 8 goals and 5 assists in league play this season. He entered Saturday with 7 goals and 4 assists, one of three Dallas players in double-digit goal contributions alongside Musa and Valiente.
The 24-year-old forward started up top Saturday in place of Santiago Moreno, pairing with Musa in a two-forward look. Moreno replaced him in the 75th minute. Farrington also scored in the second half of a 3-3 draw at St. Louis City SC on Aug. 30, the match that closed a 12-game road stretch across all competitions.
Musa leads the club with 18 league goals and 4 assists. Valiente has 1 goal and 10 assists. Kaick has 2 goals.
Dallas is fourth in the Western Conference at 10-6-7 with 37 points through 23 matches. Kansas City is last at 4-16-3 with 15 points.
Saturday was the club’s first home match since May 13, a stretch of 115 days that also covered the opening of the renovated east side of Toyota Stadium. Attendance was 10,925.
Dallas plays at Minnesota United on Wednesday at Allianz Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and the match streams on Apple TV.
