FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson pushed the oversized red button that set off the postgame fireworks at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night, walking onto the field after FC Dallas beat Sporting Kansas City 4-3.
Robertson also posted a photo with content creator IShowSpeed to his social media accounts.
Saturday was FC Dallas’ first home match since May 13, a stretch of 115 days that covered a 12-match road run across all competitions while Toyota Stadium underwent renovations. The club opened the renovated east side of the stadium that night, part of a project it has valued at more than $200 million. Attendance was 10,925 and the temperature at kickoff was 93 degrees. Petar Musa won it on a penalty kick seven minutes into second-half stoppage time.
Jason Robertson Is Coming Off A 45-Goal Season
Robertson posted 45 goals, 51 assists, and 96 points in 82 games in 2025-26. The 45 goals tied for fourth in the NHL and were the third 40-goal season of his career, after 41 in 2021-22 and 46 in 2022-23. He is the third player in franchise history and the first in the Dallas era to reach three 40-goal seasons with the club.
Robertson led the Stars in points last season and was named a First Team All-Star for the second time. He scored a career-high 15 power-play goals among 41 points on the man advantage and averaged 20:15 of ice time per game, the most among Dallas forwards.
Robertson recorded his 400th NHL point on Oct. 16 against Vancouver, played his 400th NHL game on Nov. 30 against Ottawa, and scored the 200th goal of his career on Feb. 4 against St. Louis.
In six Stanley Cup Playoff games last spring he had 5 goals, 3 assists, and 8 points. That led the Stars in goals and ranked second on the team in points behind Matt Duchene.
Robertson has spent his entire career in Dallas. He has 213 goals, 277 assists, and 490 points in 456 regular-season games, and 23 goals, 29 assists, and 52 points in 62 playoff games. Dallas selected him in the second round, 39th overall, in the 2017 NHL Draft. He is a native of Northville, Michigan.
Dallas Stars Open The Season Against The St. Louis Blues
Robertson signed a one-year, $12 million contract as a restricted free agent on July 21, a day before his 27th birthday. The deal has a $12 million cap hit and expires after the 2026-27 season. He would become an unrestricted free agent at that point. General manager Jim Nill spoke about the signing on July 22. Under the terms, Dallas can begin negotiating a long-term extension as early as Jan. 1.
Dallas finished 50-20-12 in 2025-26, second in the Central Division behind the Colorado Avalanche and second in the Western Conference. The Minnesota Wild eliminated the Stars in the first round.
The Stars open the 2026-27 regular season at home against the St. Louis Blues on Friday, Oct. 2. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center, and the game airs on TNT. It is the first of 13 national television dates for Dallas and the opener of an 84-game regular season, the league’s first at that length since 1993-94. Dallas plays at Nashville the following night.
Dallas also faces the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2027 NHL Stadium Series at AT&T Stadium in Arlington on Feb. 20.
