FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas director of scouting Leonardo Baldo laid out the club’s scouting profile of Daniel Job on Wednesday in a feature written by Garrett Melcer for the club’s website, the same day Dallas announced the winger’s transfer from Kongsvinger IL of Norway’s second division.
Job signed a U22 Initiative contract that runs through the 2029-30 MLS season with a club option for 2030-31. He will take an international roster slot once his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate are processed. As part of the deal, Dallas acquired his Discovery Priority from Red Bull New York for $125,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money.
The Athletic’s Tom Bogert reported a transfer fee of around $5 million. FC Dallas said a deal in that range would be one of the five largest incoming transfers in club history.
Since joining Kongsvinger, Job has scored 8 goals and made 9 assists in 20 appearances. He debuted on April 7 and scored in his first four matches. FC Dallas listed his league stats at 7 goals and 7 assists in 19 games. Before that, he was on loan at Egersunds IK, with 3 goals and 1 assist.
For Baldo, the appeal is not about putting Job in one fixed position. He pointed instead to the different ways the winger can affect the attack in the final third.
“Daniel was having a top season with crazy numbers that we’ve never seen in terms of attacking production,” Baldo said. “He has the ability to impact the final third in many different ways: dribbling, 1v1s, finishing skills, combinations. He’s really clever with his passing even being a 1v1 specialist, so he can also find his teammates in the final third. He’s not selfish.”
“His physical capacities are elite level acceleration, first push, top end speed, the ability to keep balance after duels, and the ability to repeat run after run to provide volume to the team,” Baldo continued. “We believe Daniel is the perfect piece to add more resources to the attack.”
Daniel Job’s Path From Lagos To Frisco
Job turned 21 on Aug. 26. He is listed at 5-foot-9 and developed at Future Pro Soccer Academy in Lagos, Nigeria. Dallas sees most of his work coming from the left, with Job able to cut inside or stay wide and go directly at a defender.
Sarpsborg 08 brought Job to Norway on loan from Future Pro in 2024 and purchased him that July. He made 27 first-team appearances across 2024 and 2025, totaling 2 goals and 3 assists. Another 10 goals came with Sarpsborg 08 FF II.
Kongsvinger signed Job on a free transfer Feb. 6. His latest goal came against Skreia IL in the opening round of the Norwegian Football Cup.
Leonardo Baldo’s Scouting Department
FC Dallas gave Baldo a new multi-year contract on Feb. 22, 2024. That same day, the club promoted Andre Zanotta to chief soccer officer.
Dallas has previously credited Baldo’s scouting group for its work on the 2024 additions of Petar Musa and Patrickson Delgado.
Zanotta traveled to Norway last week as Dallas competed with European clubs to sign Job, according to the FC Dallas feature. Musa has 16 goals this season, putting the club’s 2024 record signing second in the MLS Golden Boot race.
Job will report to Dallas after his visa work is finished. FC Dallas returns to Toyota Stadium on Saturday for its first home match in three months, against Sporting Kansas City. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. CT on Apple TV.
