FRISCO, Texas — Bleacher Report published its Week 1 NFL trade block big board on Wednesday, and the Dallas Cowboys are listed as a potential suitor for two of the 10 players on it.
Kristopher Knox ranked Maxx Crosby fifth and Joey Porter Jr. seventh. Dallas appears alongside the New England Patriots on the Crosby entry and alongside the Washington Commanders on the Porter entry. Knox ranked the board on past production, upside, positional value, contract and cap implications, likely availability, and buzz. The trade deadline is Nov. 10.
Knox projected 2027 and 2028 first-round picks for Crosby, who plays for the Las Vegas Raiders. The projection on Porter, a cornerback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is a 2027 first-round pick.

Las Vegas agreed on March 6 to send Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens. He took his physical in Baltimore on March 10, the Ravens backed out that night, and the Raiders announced the collapse in a statement. Crosby had surgery on a torn meniscus in his left knee in January.
The Raiders seem satisfied to have Crosby as the centerpiece of their defense, and Las Vegas required an offer involving several first-round picks before they were willing to trade him.
Pittsburgh has not made Porter an extension offer. He went on the physically unable to perform list on July 28 with a back injury, missed all of training camp and the entire preseason, and came off the list on Aug. 30 at the roster cutdown deadline. Knox cited reporting from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN that the absence of a formal offer signaled to Porter that the Steelers want him to play out the final year of his rookie contract.
Porter resumed practicing on Sept. 1 and later informed reporters that his back is still recovering.
“It’s feeling pretty good,” Porter said, per Steelers Now. “It’s getting back to where it’s supposed to be. I’m not saying it’s at 100. But we’re still working on things, we’re still ramping stuff up. We’ve just gotta keep stacking them day by day.”
Pittsburgh opens at home against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.
Jerry Jones Says The Dallas Cowboys Are In Play
One day before the board ran, Jerry Jones made his first weekly radio appearance of the season on 105.3 The Fan. Any Dallas addition would more than likely come on defense, and more than likely as depth.
“The best way for me to answer that is not timing wise, right on something this morning or this week, but if you look at it generally speaking, we’re in play,” Jones said. “And that’s the best way to describe it.”
Jones also said the cap room is real and usable right now.
“The timing is conspicuously obvious. We could use it for this year’s team. The cap is fungible; it laps over into multi-years, 3 or 4 on parts that you make available,” Jones said. “That’s hard to put your finger on. But that does show that we have really viable, serious room financially to make a trade if we wanted to right now.”
The Cowboys created a little more than $19 million in cap space last week by restructuring the contracts of Kenny Clark, DaRon Bland, and tight end Jake Ferguson. Dallas holds five picks in the 2027 draft.
Dallas opens the season Sunday, Sept. 13, at MetLife Stadium against the New York Giants. Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC.
