Von Miller’s Dallas Cowboys Contract Details, Incentives Revealed

DALLAS — Von Miller will earn a base salary of $5.5 million on the one-year contract he agreed to with the Dallas Cowboys, according to a person with knowledge of the deal who spoke to Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News. Incentives can push the total to $7.5 million.

Dallas announced the agreement Sunday night. ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported it, and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport also reported the one-year term with a maximum value of $7.5 million.

Miller earned $7.1 million with the Washington Commanders in 2025 once his incentives were met, per Watkins. His Washington contract was reported at the time as a one-year deal worth $6.1 million with a maximum value of $10.5 million. He reached $1 million of those incentives after finishing the season with 9.0 sacks.

Miller appeared in all 17 games for Washington and started three. He added 26 combined tackles and six tackles for loss. Washington played him on 420 defensive snaps, 37% of the team’s total.

Dallas Cowboys Cap Space And Recent Spending

The Cowboys had $18.5 million in cap space before agreeing to terms with Miller.

Dallas acquired defensive tackle Quinnen Williams from the New York Jets last November and signed him to a three-year, $105.9 million extension on Aug. 12. Counting the two years already on his deal, Williams is owed $153.15 million over five seasons with $101 million guaranteed.

Malachi Lawrence, the 23rd overall pick in April, signed a four-year rookie contract worth over $19.4 million with just under $10.6 million as a signing bonus. His average annual value is over $4.8 million.

Von Miller’s Contract History

Miller turned 37 in March and is entering his 15th NFL season. He has 138.5 career sacks, the most among active players, along with 607 combined tackles, 27 forced fumbles, and 271 quarterback hits in 203 games.

Denver took him with the second overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft and signed him to a four-year contract worth $21 million that July. He spent 10 seasons with the Broncos and had 110.5 sacks there.

In March 2022, Miller signed a six-year, $120 million contract with the Buffalo Bills. He had turned down a Dallas offer that offseason. Miller told Dan Pompei of The Athletic that the Cowboys had put a five-year, $70 million deal in front of him, the same terms they had agreed to with Randy Gregory before Gregory signed with Denver.

Miller played three seasons in Buffalo and had 14.0 sacks in 36 games. Washington signed him last offseason.

Miller is expected to arrive in Oxnard, California, on Monday. The Cowboys have two full practices remaining there before they break camp and travel to Glendale, Arizona, for Saturday’s preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. Camp practices resume in North Texas next week.
