‘Feel A Little Better’: Tyler Seguin Scores First Goal Since ACL Tear In Dallas Stars’ Shootout Loss At Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH — Tyler Seguin scored for the first time since Nov. 15, 2025, on Saturday, tipping a Jason Robertson shot past Arturs Silovs with 30 seconds left in regulation.

The goal forced overtime at PPG Paints Arena, where the Dallas Stars lost 2-1 to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a shootout.

Seguin, 34, tore the ACL in his right knee on Dec. 2, 2025. Saturday was his fifth game back, and the goal was his first point of the season.

“It felt great,” Seguin said. “Every day, just trying to get better. Every game, I feel a little more comfortable, feel a little better. Compete a little more. Nice to get one.”

How Tyler Seguin Tied It

Dallas trailed 1-0 after Connor Dewar scored 1:57 into the third period.

With Jake Oettinger pulled for an extra attacker, Roope Hintz won the faceoff. Seguin got to the top of the crease and redirected Robertson’s shot at 19:30, with Robertson and Miro Heiskanen credited with the assists.

Silovs had stopped Seguin earlier. At 15:35 of the second period, Jamie Benn fed him from behind the net, and Silovs extended his left pad to keep the game scoreless.

Seguin finished with 2 shots on goal in 13:14 of ice time.

He scored again in the second round of the shootout, answering Sidney Crosby. Wyatt Johnston also scored for Dallas, but Rickard Rakell won it for Pittsburgh in the fourth round.

Seguin wanted to give Oettinger more help.

“He was phenomenal,” Seguin explained. “He was the real reason we got a point tonight. He was great again and we would have liked to do a little more for him.”

Tyler Seguin Continues Climb In Stars History

It was the 49th game-tying goal of Seguin’s Stars career. That total ranks sixth in franchise history.

Before the injury last season, Seguin had 7 assists and no goals over his final eight games. He finished 2025-26 with 7 goals and 10 assists in 27 games. He ranks fifth in franchise history in points with the Stars and eighth in games played.

Dallas sits at 2-2-1 after opening with a 4-0 home loss to the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 2 and a 2-1 loss at the Nashville Predators a night later. The Stars then shut out the San Jose Sharks and the Buffalo Sabres.

Seguin said Dallas still has plenty to clean up despite the recent improvement.

“I think we’re where we probably should be,” Seguin said of the record. “And we’ve got a lot of work to do.”

Dallas hosts the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. CT. The teams meet again Wednesday in Denver at 7:30 p.m. CT.
