GREEN BAY, Wis. — Dallas Cowboys running back Javonte Williams ran 11 times for 41 yards and scored the Cowboys’ only rushing touchdown in Sunday night’s 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

Dallas fell to 2-4 with its second straight loss. The Cowboys ran 15 times for 48 yards as a team, and Dak Prescott threw 54 passes after Green Bay built a 17-0 halftime lead. Williams said the Cowboys have to get on the same page.

“It was frustrating. I think just a mix of pressure and things like that and communication. The reason we couldn’t get everything going,” Williams said.

Javonte Williams Carries Three Straight Times For The Touchdown

Williams opened the game with an 8-yard run on the first snap from scrimmage, then lost 2 yards on second-and-2. His third-and-4 catch at the Green Bay 47 went for no gain, and Dallas punted.

He carried three straight times on a second-quarter drive, for 5, 4, and 2 yards, to convert a third-and-1 at the Green Bay 41. Williams had 6 carries for 21 yards in the first half.

After a 17-yard CeeDee Lamb catch on fourth-and-2 extended Dallas’ first drive of the third quarter, Williams carried three more straight times from the Green Bay 11. He gained 8, then 2, then scored from 1 yard out with 9:19 left in the third quarter to cut the lead to 17-7.

Williams also converted a third-and-1 with a 5-yard run on the Cowboys’ final touchdown drive and caught 2 passes for 9 yards. A holding penalty on Williams early in the fourth quarter wiped out a 7-yard catch.

Dallas averaged 3.2 yards per carry. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said finding a running game starts with himself and the offensive staff.

“Right now because of the lack of a running game, we’re a little bit one-sided, and the best way to be on offense as a unit is to have balance, so we have to find balance,” Schottenheimer said. “And again, there’s a lot of reasons for that. There’s missed blocks, there’s bad calls, there’s missed runs, there’s different things. But at the end of the day, we know what we’re capable of, but we have to go out and do it.”

Williams Says Dallas Cowboys Believe In The Locker Room

Williams said that once the offense starts rolling, it will be good. Eleven games remain on the Cowboys’ schedule.

“We believe in everybody in the locker room. We believe in the coaches and everything,” Williams explained. “So we just got to get back to the basics and just do our job and we’ll be all right.”

Dallas visits the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, Oct. 26, at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CT on ESPN and ABC.
