‘D-Mo Worked Back In Today’: DeMarvion Overshown Returns To Dallas Cowboys Practice As Dee Winters, KaVontae Turpin Sit

FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown was a full participant in practice Thursday for the first time since a Week 1 hamstring injury, while linebacker Dee Winters and returner KaVontae Turpin did not practice as Dallas opened its week for Monday night’s game at Philadelphia.
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday that Winters, who has an Achilles strain, was likely to miss the Eagles game, and that Turpin’s rib cartilage injury made him unlikely for Philadelphia. Turpin left after returning the opening kickoff 25 yards in the 23-13 loss at Green Bay on Oct. 18. Winters went down with 13:36 left in the second quarter, after he intercepted Jordan Love for Dallas’ first interception of the season.
Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. was limited by an ankle injury the week of the Green Bay game and was not on Thursday’s injury report. Schottenheimer opened his news conference with the list.
“Dee Winters and Turp will not practice. D-Mo worked back in today. Excited to see how he does. Cobie Durant should get some work in practice,” Schottenheimer said. “And then Joey Porter should be back, opening the window for Marist. So getting healthier.”
DeMarvion Overshown, Cobie Durant, And Joey Porter Jr. Trend Toward Eagles Game
Overshown has missed the last five games. Third-round rookie Jaishawn Barham has started in his place since Week 2 and has worn the green dot as the defense’s play-caller. Overshown said Tuesday he plans to play Monday.
“I definitely feel that that’s the plan, so I’m ready for practice,” Overshown said.
Cornerback Cobie Durant was limited in his first practice since hurting his hamstring in Dallas’ 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders in Week 2. He has missed four games. Durant said he can do anything on the field right now and is being smart about the hamstring.
“I’m feeling great, man. I’m a little limited right now, so I’m just taking it one day at a time and staying on top of this hamstring thing because it’s tricky,” Durant said. “And just being available. That’s the best thing about this business. The best ability is availability.”
Dallas acquired Porter from Pittsburgh on Oct. 1. He started in Week 4 at Houston, missed the Week 5 loss to Tampa Bay with an illness, and played at Green Bay.
Marist Liufau’s 21-Day Window Opens As Dee Winters And KaVontae Turpin Sit
The Cowboys designated linebacker Marist Liufau to return from injured reserve Thursday, and he was limited in practice. Liufau fractured his forearm in the preseason finale against New Orleans on Aug. 28 and had surgery. Dallas has 21 days to activate him or he reverts to injured reserve for the rest of the season.
“Physically I feel great. Well, I’m just so grateful to be back with the boys, like practicing with them and spending that time together with them. I miss that for sure,” Liufau said. “So it’s such a blessing to be back.”
Edge rusher Von Miller did not practice on a veterans rest day, and offensive tackle Drew Shelton did not practice with a hamstring injury. Receiver George Pickens (shoulder) and left tackle Tyler Guyton (calf) were limited. Safety Alijah Clark (hamstring) and cornerback Ameer Speed (knee) were full participants.
The Philadelphia Eagles listed 24 players on their initial injury report Thursday. Saquon Barkley was limited with a hamstring injury, and DeVonta Smith, Dontayvion Wicks, and Dallas Goedert did not practice. Kickoff Monday at Lincoln Financial Field is set for 7:15 p.m. CT on ESPN and ABC.
