FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Jonathan Bullard, tight end DJ Rogers, offensive lineman Ajani Cornelius, and safety Julius Wood will not practice Wednesday, Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said ahead of the team’s padded session at The Star.
Bullard is dealing with a groin and abdominal injury. Rogers has a knee injury. Cornelius has a knee injury. Wood is in the concussion protocol.
Wednesday’s session is the second of two Cowboys practices in Frisco open to fans this week, and it airs locally at 6 p.m. on KTXA 21. Rosters across the league must be down to 53 players by 5 p.m. CT Sunday under the single cutdown date the NFL moved up this offseason.
Tight end Michael Trigg was among the five players who did not practice Tuesday at The Star, and Schottenheimer did not list him Wednesday. Trigg hurt his toe in the preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 15. He caught 4 of 5 targets for 30 yards over 32 offensive snaps in that game, a 17-7 Dallas win.
Jonathan Bullard Has Missed Both Preseason Games
Schottenheimer listed Bullard with a hamstring injury on Aug. 17 and again on Aug. 20, the final practice in Oxnard, California. On Tuesday, Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News listed the injury as groin and abdominal.
Bullard is in his 11th NFL season and signed a one-year contract with Dallas on March 28. Last season with the New Orleans Saints, he played 15 games with 6 starts and recorded 26 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, and 2 pass breakups. The Chicago Bears drafted him 72nd overall in 2016. He has not played in either preseason game this month.
Ajani Cornelius And DJ Rogers Held Out With Knee Injuries
Cornelius has started both preseason games at guard. He played 68% of the offensive snaps in the opener at Seattle. Dallas drafted him in the sixth round of the 2025 draft, 204th overall, out of Oregon, and signed him to a four-year contract worth $4.41 million in May 2025. He appeared in one game as a rookie and played 7 special teams snaps before Dallas placed him on injured reserve with a knee injury on Nov. 17, 2025.
Rogers was hurt in the Aug. 20 practice in Oxnard, the last session of training camp there. He missed the Aug. 22 game against the Arizona Cardinals. Dallas signed Rogers as an undrafted free agent out of TCU after the 2026 draft. He caught 34 passes for 319 yards and 2 touchdowns in 13 games for the Horned Frogs last season.
Julius Wood Remains In The Concussion Protocol
Wood suffered his concussion in Arizona on Saturday and was ruled out during the game. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of East Carolina in 2024, signed with Dallas on May 9 of that year, and was waived on Aug. 27, 2024. The Tennessee Titans claimed him the next day, and he played 9 games as a rookie. The NFL suspended him six games on Dec. 3, 2024, for violating its performance-enhancing substances policy.
Tennessee waived Wood on Aug. 25, 2025. Dallas signed him on Oct. 7, 2025, and signed him to a futures contract for the 2026 season on Jan. 6.
Dallas closes the preseason against the Saints at AT&T Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT Friday, and the game airs on CBS.
