FRISCO, Texas — Dallas has not named a starting cornerback opposite DaRon Bland. Cobie Durant and Shavon Revel Jr. both appear at the spot on the Dallas Cowboys’ unofficial depth chart released Tuesday, separated by an “or.” The Cowboys open Sunday night at the New York Giants.
The same designation ran on Dallas’ August charts. It survived three preseason games, two joint practices, and the cut to 53.
Durant is listed first. He signed with Dallas on March 13 after four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, who took him 142nd overall in 2022 out of South Carolina State. He has 7 interceptions and 26 pass deflections in his career, along with 2 defensive touchdowns and 141 tackles. Durant was named Black College Football Pro Player of the Year in 2025.
Playmakers were what Durant said drew him to the room when he signed, and he had four years in the league behind him by then.
“It’s a blessing,” Durant said. “Just getting a chance to come to Dallas and add to the secondary, a room full of playmakers, and just bring what I know in being in this league for four years to add on with DaRon Bland and everybody else in that room. Just to come in and make plays.”
Shavon Revel Jr. Started Five Of The Seven Games He Played As A Rookie
Revel is in his second season. Dallas took him 76th overall in 2025 out of East Carolina, and he began that season on the non-football injury list after tearing an ACL in college. He was activated on Nov. 14 and appeared in seven games with five starts, recording 35 tackles and 3 pass deflections.
On Aug. 27 at The Star, Revel started at outside cornerback alongside Bland during first-team drills, according to Joseph Hoyt of DLLS Sports. Durant had taken the first-team start the day before.
Bland holds the other cornerback spot with no “or” attached. He started 12 games last season and had 1 interception. Caelen Carson is listed second behind him and Ameer Speed third. Dallas started Speed over Carson in the second preseason game.
The Dallas Cowboys Chart Carries A Second ‘Or’ At Safety
Caleb Downs is the only player listed at defensive back. Dallas took him 11th overall in April.
The other unresolved spot sits at safety, where Malik Hooker and P.J. Locke carry an “or.” Jalen Thompson is the other starting safety. Behind him are Markquese Bell and Alijah Clark. Hooker started 12 games in 2025.
Fourth-round cornerback Devin Moore is on injured reserve. Dallas also signed Derion Kendrick in free agency, who spent last season with the Seattle Seahawks.
Christian Parker is in his first season as Dallas defensive coordinator. The Cowboys allowed 511 points last season, the most in the NFL. They finished 7-9-1 and missed the playoffs for a second straight year.
