NEW YORK — The one-of-one Cooper Flagg Rookie Debut Patch Autograph card is going to auction. Fanatics Collect will offer the card in its September Premier Auction, which runs from Sept. 10 through Sept. 24. The card carries a PSA Gem Mint 10 grade.
Jason Williams, the South Carolina collector who landed the card in a livestream break on Aug. 10, made the decision to consign it this week.
How Fanatics Collect Reached The Collector
Shortly before midnight on Monday, Aug. 10, RhodyBreakers pulled the card during a break at Baseball Cards of Rhode Island in North Kingstown. Williams was watching from his living room in Clover, South Carolina, on his phone.
“I went to the floor like a baby in the fetal position,” Williams told CNN.
Fanatics Collect VP of Marketplace Kevin Lenane briefly got through to the shop on its landline that night. Calls flooded the line afterward and the shop unplugged it.
No meeting had been arranged. Lenane boarded the 6 a.m. ferry from Port Jefferson, New York, to Bridgeport, Connecticut, then took an Uber to the Rhode Island shop. Another member of the Fanatics Collect team flew a red-eye from Los Angeles to Providence. The two spent the next two days at the store.
Williams was not yet willing to share his information on the first day, so Lenane spoke with him over the shop’s landline, which had been plugged back in. Williams came to the shop himself on the second day. His discussions with Lenane stretched roughly 12 hours.
Prior Offers For The Cooper Flagg Card
Williams paid $515 for the Dallas Mavericks slot in a three-box break of 2025-26 Topps Chrome Update Basketball. Topps released the product on Aug. 6. The set carries debut patches from the 99 players who made their NBA debuts during the 2025-26 season, 93 of them inserted into packs as autographed redemptions.
The patch was cut from the jersey Flagg wore in the first half of his NBA debut, played Oct. 22, 2025, against the San Antonio Spurs. That jersey went for $1 million at auction in February. Flagg signed the card itself on July 17, at Fanatics Fest in New York.
Ken Goldin offered Williams a $1.5 million cash advance to consign the card. The auction platform Alt ran a bounty listing that reached a potential bid of $2.8 million. Dallas posted its own offer on Aug. 6. The team called the package “1 of 1 for 32.” It included two lower-level season tickets for 32 years, a signed game-worn Flagg jersey, a postgame photo with Flagg, and a private photo shoot with the Rookie of the Year trophy and the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
Williams had not decided what to do with the card as of Aug. 14.
“It’s in a safe place for right now,” Williams told ESPN.
Christopher Card, the RhodyBreakers member who opened the pack, told NBC 10 in Providence the card is “probably worth $5 million.”
A comparable card, the Paul Skenes MLB debut patch autograph, sold for $1.11 million in 2025. The highest price paid for any Flagg card is $366,000, set in a March auction.
The Other Debut Patch Cards In The September Auction
Fanatics Collect will offer the debut patch cards of Dylan Harper and Kon Knueppel in the same auction.
In 70 games as a rookie, all of them starts, Flagg averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. Voters named him Rookie of the Year. On April 4 against the Orlando Magic he scored 51 points, a career high. Among teenagers, Flagg holds the NBA record for the most 40-point games. Under his rookie-scale contract he earned $13,825,920 in 2026, with a $15.21 million team option for 2027-28.
Harper went second overall to the Spurs in the 2025 NBA Draft. He averaged 11.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in 69 games. He made the All-Rookie First Team.
Knueppel went fourth overall to the Charlotte Hornets. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 81 games while shooting 47.5% from the field. He also made the All-Rookie First Team.
The Fanatics Collect September Premier Auction runs Sept. 10 through Sept. 24. The 2026-27 NBA regular season begins in October.
