FRISCO, Texas — Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday that offensive tackle Broderick Jones is still getting reps, a day after Terence Steele started at right tackle in a 23-13 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Jones did not start at Lambeau Field. He reported in as an eligible receiver three times, including on Javonte Williams’ 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Schottenheimer said Steele has played well.

“Yeah, no. I mean, Broderick’s still getting his reps. I think [Terence] has played well. And none of us really did well enough last night on offense,” Schottenheimer said. “But Broderick is a guy that’s got a ton of ability. And, again, when he went in and had to play against Tampa last week, I thought he did a nice job. And you saw the athleticism and what we liked so much about him.”

Broderick Jones Played Against The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jones played in the Cowboys’ 24-16 home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Oct. 8, Schottenheimer said. Dallas lost that game and the next one at Lambeau Field.

Steele started at right tackle against Green Bay alongside right guard Tyler Booker, center Cooper Beebe, left guard Tyler Smith, and left tackle Tyler Guyton. The Cowboys ran 15 times for 48 yards and allowed 1 sack.

Schottenheimer On Blitz Pickup Up Front

Green Bay was credited with 7 quarterback hits on Dak Prescott. Schottenheimer said there are things Dallas has to clean up in blitz pickup from a scheme and an execution standpoint.

“There’s certainly things we need to clean up from a blitz pickup standpoint, all of us, from a scheme standpoint, from an execution standpoint. But I think the biggest thing is we’ve just kind of put ourselves behind the eight ball and having to play catch-up against two aggressive teams,” Schottenheimer explained. “They’ve come after us, and we haven’t handled it very well.”

Booker was flagged for an ineligible-man-downfield penalty in the first quarter and a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty in the fourth that pushed Dallas back 15 yards right after a fourth-down conversion. Guyton was flagged for a false start and an offensive holding penalty that offset a taunting call.

Dallas visits the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, Oct. 26, at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 7:15 p.m. CT on ESPN and ABC.
