LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams is questionable to face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6.

Williams suffered a right hamstring injury in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings and has missed the last three games.

“I’m hopeful we’ll have more clarity at the end of the day today,” Bears head coach Ben Johnson said on Friday. “He looked good [Thursday] for one practice, but we’ve got to be able to stack a few back-to-back. He got some good work in on Wednesday even though we walked through. He went through his own throwing session beforehand. Part of the plan, and he’s on track right now.”

The Bears are 3-2. They beat the Carolina Panthers in Week 1, lost to the Vikings in Week 2, beat the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 and the New York Jets in Week 4 and lost to the Green Bay Packers in Week 5.

Chicago scored 59 points in Week 1 against Carolina. Williams had 269 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 65 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

However, the Bears’ offense was a mess against the Vikings, who have one of the top defenses in the NFL. Chicago had only 297 total yards after putting up 552 total yards against Carolina.

Williams finished the Bears-Vikings game with 138 passing yards, zero passing touchdowns and one interception. He also had 42 rushing yards on five carries. The 24-year-old was injured on his fifth carry.

The Bears selected Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 draft. The USC product has 7,890 passing yards, 49 passing touchdowns, 14 interceptions, 984 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in 36 starts.

Williams Not Happy About How His Injury Was Reported

Williams spoke to reporters on Thursday (10/15) for the first time since his injury and said he wasn’t happy about how his injury was reported by the media.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Williams suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain.

“There’s nothing that has come out that has been right about what it is and what it has been,” Williams said.

Williams said he suffered a “pretty serious” hamstring tear. When asked to provide more clarity on the severity of the injury, Williams refused “because it’s not deserving.”

“I felt a pop,” Williams said. “That’s why I looked back. I looked back just like everybody else does when you feel a pop. Think somebody grabbed you and nobody grabbed me.”

Caleb Doesn’t Care People Made Fun Of Him

When Williams got hurt against the Vikings, he cried and needed to be carted to the locker room.

The 2022 Heisman Trophy winner was brutally criticized by many for how he acted after his injury, but Williams said he doesn’t care about the criticism he received on social media.

“I’m always going to show emotion, especially when I can’t be out there with the guys when something like that happens,” Williams said. “When I went through the draft process, I went to two places, and the two places was here and popped over to the Vikings for a visit as we all know. And they asked me what’s the difference between you and everyone else? It’s because I care about the team, about the organization, winning, being out there, my teammates, all of that. I care, and that’s the biggest thing.

“This is what I love to do. This puts a smile on my face. It’s everything to me, so not being able to be out there was frustrating. That was more of the tears or whatever that was, and then, you know, the other half of it was just everybody making jokes and all of that, but that doesn’t bother me.”
