BERLIN — Angel Reese has enjoyed playing with Caitlin Clark and the other young players on the U.S. roster at the FIBA Women’s World Cup, Doug Feinberg of The Associated Press reported Wednesday. That group includes Paige Bueckers and Aliyah Boston.
Reese and the group are going through a learning process together in Berlin.
“We can kind of rely on each other, lean on each other,” Reese said. “This is our first big national event, so being able to play with each other, learn each other and go through these learning process together, it’s fun.”
Boston went first overall to the Indiana Fever in the 2023 WNBA draft. Clark went first overall to Indiana in 2024, and Bueckers went first overall to Dallas in 2025. Reese was the seventh overall pick in 2024.
In March, Reese, Clark, and Bueckers played for the U.S. team that went 5-0 at the World Cup qualifying tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Clark was named MVP of that event.
Angel Reese Has Come Off the Bench In Berlin
Reese has come off the bench in all three U.S. games, Bleacher Report reported. She scored 5 points in the 94-61 opening win over China on Sept. 4.
Two days later, the Americans beat Italy 55-52. Reese had 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 blocks in that game. She scored 13 points on Sept. 7 in a 105-64 win over Czechia, the final game of group play.
Reese and Clark first played on the same team at the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix, a 117-109 win for the WNBA All-Stars over the U.S. Olympic team. One of Clark’s 10 assists that night went to Reese, who finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Reese said afterward that “the tone was set” at a 30-minute practice the day before.
Angel Reese Set Two WNBA Rebounding Records On Aug. 24
In her first season with the Atlanta Dream, Reese is averaging 16.1 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 39 games. On Aug. 24 at Los Angeles, she grabbed 26 rebounds in a 78-71 win over the Sparks. That broke the WNBA single-game record of 24, set in 2003. Reese also passed the league’s single-season rebounding record in that game. She has 485 rebounds this season.
Reese led the WNBA in rebounding in each of her two seasons with Chicago. As a rookie in 2024, she set a league record with 15 straight double-doubles.
Atlanta and Clark’s Indiana team are both 26-14. The two would meet in the first round of the WNBA playoffs if the current seeds hold. The top four seeds have home-court advantage in that round. Indiana beat Atlanta 95-91 in overtime at State Farm Arena on Aug. 16.
The United States plays Hungary in the World Cup quarterfinals on Thursday at 4:30 a.m. CT on TNT and truTV. The semifinals are Saturday, and the final is Sunday.
WNBA play resumes Sept. 17, when the Dream host Connecticut. Indiana hosts Toronto the next night.
