Maxx Crosby Says Cowboys Trade Talk ‘Doesn’t Change Anything’ After Jerry Jones Opens The Door In Oxnard

Earlier this week, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones stirred the pot with some trade comments, noting that he isn’t afraid of “giving up the future” to acquire a major talent in order to help the team right now.

Jones added that he had discussions with another team owner as recently as Monday about a potential trade.

He later added that the Cowboys could still use a playmaker on defense, like a pass rusher or linebacker.

Maxx Crosby Has Heard the Noise

Although Jones didn’t want to talk much about Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby, there is reason to believe that the Cowboys are a team to watch for the five-time Pro Bowler.

Crosby has heard the noise about his future, and he recently talked to USA TODAY Sports about it.

“It doesn’t change anything for me, to be honest,” Crosby said. “People act like they don’t…if you’re an athlete in this position, you see everything. Regardless, if you want to or not. You can try to live in a cage, but then your teammate is coming up to you, ‘How do you deal with it?’”

He said he saw ESPN hosts talking about a possible trade to the Cowboys while he was at Las Vegas’ training camp facility getting knee treatment.

“I’m getting rehab, the first thing this morning, and all my teammates are looking at it and I’m trying to ignore it,” he said. “But ultimately, you just have to learn to roll with the punches. I’ve gone through a lot in my personal life, a lot in my football life. So, (stuff) like that is nothing. If the child version of me was looking at Stephen A. Smith talking about, ‘Is this dude the guy to come win you a Super Bowl?’ like I think that’s cool.

“Whether it’s made up or not. They wouldn’t be talking about you if you weren’t doing something right. And I know what I bring to the table as a player, and as a leader, and as a worker. I want to be here. Everyone knows that. So, you can’t let any of that (stuff) get into your head or let it distract you.”

A Chaotic Year for Crosby

Crosby has had a chaotic year. After tearing his meniscus in October of 2025, he played through the injury for several weeks before eventually having it repaired in January of 2026.

Then, in the offseason, he thought he had been traded to the Baltimore Ravens in what would’ve been a blockbuster deal. But the Ravens got cold feet over medical concerns, and the deal fell apart.

That landed him back with the Raiders, the team he’s spent his entire NFL career with. While he remains a Raider as of now, there is still time for that to change before the start of the 2026 season.

What Crosby Would Mean for the Cowboys

He’d be a huge splash addition for the Cowboys, who may need to make a big move in order to raise their ceiling for the upcoming campaign. Last season, Crosby reached the 10-sack threshold for the fourth time in his career despite the fact that he missed two games and played through injury for much of the season.

The 28-year-old is aware of the Cowboys chatter. Now, it’s a matter of whether anything materializes.
