FRISCO, Texas — George Pickens expects defenders to grab him. The Dallas Cowboys receiver said Wednesday at The Star that he knows pass interference calls will come his way because defenders do not want to let him catch any ball.
Pickens does not take much pride in drawing the flags, though, he said.
“Not too much pride, but I definitely know it’s going to happen to me just because my catch, I don’t think guys want to let me catch any type of ball,” Pickens said.
Pickens would rather make the catch than draw the flag.
“That’s definitely my mindset. That’s why I say just kind of let football be football,” Pickens explained. “But definitely mindset’s still the same. Dog mindset, you just know. Make the plays when they come.”

Pickens caught 93 passes for 1,429 yards and 9 touchdowns on 137 targets in 2025, all career highs, in his first season in Dallas. He caught 3 of 6 targets for 28 yards in Sunday night’s 28-20 loss to the New York Giants.
Getting the run game going helps, Pickens said, and the whole team can be sharper on detail this weekend.
“That definitely helps as well. But like I said, we probably as a team all can get better, and we will when we come out this weekend,” Pickens said. “Just proving that everybody’s on the IQ and everybody’s on detail.”
Dallas ran 18 times for 69 yards against New York. Javonte Williams led the Cowboys with 41 rushing yards on 12 carries.
George Pickens, Dallas Cowboys Face Washington Commanders Secondary
The Washington Commanders allowed 182 passing yards in a 24-22 loss at the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Cornerback Rasul Douglas broke up a pass in the game, and Amik Robertson and Mike Sainristil started at cornerback.
Pickens said the defensive side and the offensive side should both approach every game the same way.
“That’s really every game. That’s why I say that’s kind of every game, how the offensive side and the defensive side should think,” Pickens said. “Like, we should just do our job and let’s make plays.”
Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Wednesday that his call sheet carries a lot of plays for Pickens and CeeDee Lamb. Kickoff Sunday at AT&T Stadium is 3:25 p.m. CT on FOX.
