‘No Regret’: ESPN’s Todd Archer Says Dallas Cowboys Stand By Micah Parsons Trade

DALLAS — Late last summer, the Dallas Cowboys made a league-shaking decision by trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

The 27-year-old didn’t skip a beat initially after the trade, totaling 12.5 sacks in 14 games with Green Bay. His season ended in December when he suffered a torn ACL and meniscus damage, and he remains on the road to recovery.

Losing Parsons was no small move for Dallas. But according to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the Cowboys do not regret making it.

“I don’t think there’s any regret about DeMarcus Lawrence, and I know there’s no regret about the Micah Parsons trade,” Archer said of the Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys Still Stand By Micah Parsons Trade

Archer did leave room for different opinions inside the building. He speculated that the “personnel people might feel differently” about losing Parsons because there are “only so many of those guys on the planet.”

Overall, though, Archer’s assessment was that Dallas does not regret the move.

The Cowboys acquired Kenny Clark and two first-round picks from Green Bay in exchange for Parsons. The trade followed a lengthy contract dispute between Parsons and Dallas, with the All-Pro ultimately landing his new deal from the Packers as part of the move.

Archer also referenced DeMarcus Lawrence, another longtime Cowboys pass rusher who moved on from Dallas.

Micah Parsons Was One Of Dallas’ Biggest Defensive Stars

The relationship between Parsons and the Cowboys might have run its course, but Dallas still gave up one of the NFL’s premier defensive players.

Parsons never finished a season with fewer than 12 sacks during his four years with the Cowboys. He was a perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate and became one of the centerpieces of the Dallas defense.

That chapter is over now.

Parsons is working toward a return from his knee injury at some point during the 2026 season. The Cowboys, meanwhile, have continued adding to their defense and recently signed Von Miller as part of that effort.

Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers Meet In Week 6

Dallas and Green Bay will meet in Week 6 this season at Lambeau Field.

Parsons has said that returning in time for that matchup could be in play.

That would give Parsons his first chance to face the team that drafted him and later sent him to Green Bay.
