CROMVOIRT, Netherlands — Maja Stark and Linn Grant will play together in the fourth foursomes match of the Solheim Cup on Friday at Bernardus Golf. The Swedish pair faces Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho of the U.S. at 1:16 a.m. CT.
Stark is playing her third Solheim Cup. She said Thursday that she stays quiet in individual events, The Associated Press reported.
“Before I played my first one, I was really wondering, ‘What am I going to be like?’” Stark said. “Because when I play individual golf, I don’t really feel like shouting or doing fist pumps or anything like that.
“But then during Solheim, all of a sudden I started screaming when I made a putt,” Stark continued. “I thought, ‘Who is this? This is a new Maja!’”
Stark won the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open at Erin Hills by two strokes, finishing ahead of Nelly Korda and Rio Takeda. It was her first major title and first LPGA Tour win in the U.S. She became the third Swede to win the U.S. Women’s Open, after Liselotte Neumann and Annika Sorenstam.
Stark played two seasons at Oklahoma State, where she was a first-team All-American and the 2021 Big 12 Player of the Year. She tied for eighth at this year’s U.S. Women’s Open at Riviera, where Korda won.
Maja Stark, Linn Grant Reunite In Friday Foursomes
Stark and Grant went 1-1 as a foursomes pair in 2023. They are the only one of Europe’s four Friday morning partnerships with previous experience together, Golf Channel reported.
Grant played college golf at Arizona State. In 2022, she won the Scandinavian Mixed and became the first woman to win a DP World Tour event, and she won her first LPGA Tour title at the 2023 Dana Open.
Europe captain Anna Nordqvist is also from Sweden. Nordqvist played in nine Solheim Cups and is a three-time major champion. Her team includes players from seven European nations and four rookies.
Stark and Korda both said Thursday that the matches will be played in a respectful manner, the AP reported.
Rose Zhang, Jennifer Kupcho Pair For The U.S.
Zhang was one of U.S. captain Angela Stanford’s three captain’s picks. She won the 2023 Augusta National Women’s Amateur, and in June 2023 she became the first woman since 1951 to win her professional debut, taking the Mizuho Americas Open at Liberty National.
Kupcho made the team through the U.S. standings. She won the 2019 Augusta National Women’s Amateur and the 2022 Chevron Championship. Kupcho also tied for eighth at this year’s U.S. Women’s Open, alongside Stark.
Europe lost 15½-12½ in Virginia in 2024 and is trying to regain the cup at home. The U.S. leads the all-time series 11-7-1.
Friday’s session opens with Korda and Allisen Corpuz against Charley Hull and Lottie Woad at 12:40 a.m. CT. The teams play four-ball in the afternoon.
