CROMVOIRT, Netherlands — Europe’s Charley Hull and Lottie Woad will open the Solheim Cup on Friday against Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz of the U.S. The foursomes match tees off at 12:40 a.m. CT at Bernardus Golf, in front of an estimated 3,000 spectators in and around the horseshoe grandstand at the first tee.
Hull and Woad are Europe’s top two players. Korda is ranked No. 1 in the world. The four players in the match have an average world ranking of 12, Golf Channel reported.
Hull arrived in the Netherlands later than the rest of the European team after staying in England to practice, The Associated Press reported.
“We really shouldn’t do anything too differently,” Hull said. “We’ve still got to hit a ball around the golf course and play good.”
Charley Hull Plays Eighth Straight Solheim Cup
This is Hull’s eighth consecutive Solheim Cup. Carlota Ciganda of Spain is also making her eighth appearance for Europe.
Hull made her debut in 2013 at 17 in Colorado and beat Paula Creamer 5 and 4 in Sunday singles. Creamer is one of U.S. captain Angela Stanford’s assistant captains this week.
In 2024, Hull was Europe’s top scorer and beat Korda 6 and 4 in Sunday singles, Sky Sports reported. She and Esther Henseleit lost the 2024 opener 3 and 2 to Korda and Corpuz, who have gone 4-0 as a foursomes pair across the last two Solheim Cups. Hull is 6-3-1 in Solheim Cup foursomes with five different partners.
“We’ve played some amazing golf together,” Korda told Golf Monthly. “There’s nothing better than the Solheim Cup, that electricity of that first tee.”
Korda has won four times on the LPGA Tour this season, including the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open. Corpuz won the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open for her first LPGA Tour title.
Hull has finished second to both of Friday’s opponents at the U.S. Women’s Open. She tied for second behind Corpuz at Pebble Beach in 2023, and she tied for second this June at Riviera, one shot behind Korda.
Her LPGA Tour wins include the 2016 CME Group Tour Championship and the 2022 Ascendant LPGA at Old American Golf Club in The Colony. She closed with a 7-under 64 in The Colony to beat Xiyu Lin by one shot.
Lottie Woad Makes Solheim Cup Debut as Europe’s Top-Ranked Player
Woad is one of Europe’s four rookies and is ranked No. 7 in the world. Friday will be her first Solheim Cup match.
“I don’t think anybody would say they don’t want to play with Charley, so very happy,” Woad said.
“They say you can’t really describe it, so I’m just going to have to find out tomorrow,” Woad added.
Woad, 22, is from Farnham, England, and played college golf at Florida State. In 2024, she became the first European to win the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
In July 2025, she won the KPMG Women’s Irish Open as an amateur and tied for third at the Evian Championship. She turned professional later that month and won the Women’s Scottish Open in her professional debut. Woad won her second LPGA Tour title at the Kroger Queen City Championship in May and tied for seventh at the Chevron Championship this season, according to Sky Sports.
Europe captain Anna Nordqvist said Thursday that the first tee Friday morning is going to be the place to be in the golfing world. The U.S. leads the all-time series 11-7-1 and won 15½-12½ in Virginia in 2024. The Americans have not won in Europe since 2015.
