DALLAS — Trevon Diggs is signing with the Seattle Seahawks, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Wednesday. The report did not include terms.
Seattle worked Diggs out Tuesday ahead of practice in Renton, Washington. ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo both reported the tryout, which also showed up on the NFL’s transaction wire. Diggs worked out for the Detroit Lions on Aug. 9 and had been a free agent since Green Bay released him.
Diggs turns 28 on Sept. 20. He has 20 interceptions and 63 passes defensed in 67 career games, along with 242 tackles and two defensive touchdowns. Dallas drafted him in the second round, 51st overall, out of Alabama in 2020.
In 2021, Diggs led the NFL with 11 interceptions and returned two of them for touchdowns. He added 21 pass breakups and 56 tackles that year and started all 16 games he played. He was named first-team All-Pro. He went to the Pro Bowl in 2021 and 2022, and Dallas gave him a five-year, $97 million extension in 2023 that carried a $21.25 million signing bonus.
How Trevon Diggs’ Run In Dallas Ended
A torn ACL in his left knee, suffered at a practice in September 2023, limited Diggs to two games that season. He appeared in 11 games in 2024. He had knee surgery that December and another procedure in January 2025.
Dallas waived Diggs on Dec. 30, 2025, after eight games. The Green Bay Packers claimed him off waivers the next day. He started the Packers’ regular-season finale and played one snap in their wild-card loss to the Chicago Bears, 34 defensive snaps in all, before Green Bay released him in the offseason. Across nine games with the two teams last season, he had 27 tackles, one tackle for loss, and no interceptions.
The release came days after Dallas played at Washington on Christmas. Diggs asked to stay in the Washington area with family instead of flying back with the team, and Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer denied the request, according to Schultz.
What The Seattle Seahawks Have At Cornerback
Seattle agreed to terms with Terrion Arnold on Aug. 13, and Arnold has not signed. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Garafolo reported Tuesday that Arnold will be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list once he does, which will keep him from practicing or playing. Arnold faces eight felony charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. Detroit released him on June 29.
Devon Witherspoon and Josh Jobe are the established starters. Witherspoon agreed to a four-year, $132 million extension Saturday, per Schefter. Jobe re-signed in March on a three-year, $24 million deal. Riq Woolen signed with the Philadelphia Eagles on March 10 for one year and $12 million. Julian Neal, taken 99th overall in April, has been out since the first week of camp with an undisclosed injury.
Diggs was at Alabama while Seahawks defensive backs coach Karl Scott was on staff there, and he played in Dallas under Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde, per Pro Football Talk. Durde was the Cowboys’ defensive line coach from 2021 through 2023 and has run Seattle’s defense since February 2024.
The Dallas Cowboys Cornerback Room Without Trevon Diggs
DaRon Bland holds one outside spot for Dallas. Shavon Revel Jr. and Cobie Durant are separated by an “or” opposite him on the Cowboys’ first unofficial depth chart of the summer. Durant signed a one-year deal on March 13 after four seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. Revel played seven games as a rookie last season, five of them starts, and finished with 35 tackles and three passes defensed.
Bland has 15 interceptions and six defensive touchdowns in 53 career games. He led the NFL with nine interceptions in 2023 and set the single-season record with five interception returns for touchdowns.
Dallas beat Seattle 17-7 at Lumen Field on Saturday night in the preseason opener for both teams. The Seahawks hold a joint practice with the Tennessee Titans in Nashville on Friday and play them Sunday at 7 p.m. CT on FOX. The Cowboys play the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale, Arizona, on Saturday at 9 p.m. CT.
