OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City Thunder president Sam Presti announced on Monday (10/26) that forwards Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace need surgery and will be out indefinitely.

Williams suffered a dislocated left ankle and a fractured fibula, while Wallace has a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Williams and Wallace got hurt on Sunday (10/25) against the LA Clippers.

Thunder superstar Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was visibly emotional after Williams’ injury. Williams’ left foot was bent out to the side at an unnatural angle.

A one-time All-Star, Williams was placed on a stretcher and wheeled off the court to a standing ovation. He gave the Paycom Center crowd two thumbs-up.

“I just feel bad for him,” Gilgeous-Alexander said. “It’s obviously going to be tough without a player like that. But he’s not gone forever. He’ll be back better than ever, and we know it. We’ve just got to hold the fort down until he comes back.”

Williams and Wallace helped the Thunder win the 2025 NBA championship against the Indiana Pacers in seven games. Both players have spent their entire careers in OKC.

Williams was the 12th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Santa Clara. He has career averages of 17.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in the regular season and 19.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game in the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Wallace was the 10th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Kentucky. The Dallas Mavericks drafted him and then traded him to the Thunder for Dereck Lively II. Wallace has career averages of 7.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game in the regular season and 6.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in the playoffs.

The Thunder signed Williams to a five-year, $239 million extension in July 2025 and gave Wallace a five-year, $135 million extension this month.
