Dallas Mavericks’ Cooper Flagg Upgraded To Probable Against Miami Heat After Shootaround

MIAMI — Cooper Flagg was upgraded to probable for the Dallas Mavericks’ game against the Miami Heat on Monday after participating in shootaround at Kaseya Center. He went through a normal spot-shooting workout. Flagg had been listed as questionable on Dallas’ initial injury report with a mild left shoulder sprain.
Flagg left Friday’s 121-105 win over the Indiana Pacers after a flagrant foul and did not return for the second half. The Mavericks announced Saturday that an MRI revealed a mild left shoulder sprain, and he sat out that night’s 122-106 loss to the San Antonio Spurs.
Mavericks coach Dusty May opened his availability before Saturday’s game with the injury report. He did not give a timeline for Flagg’s return.
“Coop had an MRI performed. He has a left shoulder sprain,” May said.

Flagg scored 32 points on 10-of-17 shooting and made 11 of 13 free throws in the season opener, a 128-110 loss at the Houston Rockets on Wednesday. He had 14 points in 17 minutes at Indiana before the injury. May said after that game that Flagg would be evaluated in the next couple of days.
The 19-year-old forward was the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Zaccharie Risacher started in his place Saturday and finished with 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Kyrie Irving is not on the injury report after sitting out Saturday for left knee injury management on the second night of a back-to-back. He scored 24 points in 25 minutes at Indiana.
Naji Marshall is out with an illness. Caleb Martin was downgraded from doubtful to out with a right thumb sprain. Santi Aldama (right knee surgery), Tarik Biberović (right heel bursitis), and Dereck Lively II (right foot surgery) are out.
Miami is 0-3 after a 115-110 loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. The Heat listed Pelle Larsson as available with a left finger sprain, the only player on their injury report. Tip-off at Kaseya Center is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
