Dallas Cowboys’ Maxx Crosby Pursuit Takes Fresh Turn 10 Days Before Deadline

FRISCO, Texas — Maxx Crosby wants to remain with the Las Vegas Raiders and is not forcing his way out, Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reported Saturday morning.
Pelissero added that Raiders general manager John Spytek is sure to get calls before the NFL trade deadline, which leaves open the possibility of “another blockbuster.” The deadline is 3 p.m. CT on Nov. 10.
The Dallas Cowboys have been tied to Crosby since March, when they bid for the five-time Pro Bowler before Las Vegas agreed to trade him to the Baltimore Ravens. Crosby played high school football at Colleyville Heritage.
After a 3-0 start, the Raiders have lost four straight games and sit at 3-4 going into Week 8 against the New York Jets. Dallas is also 3-4 after Monday night’s win in Philadelphia.
In a Ringer column in September, Pelissero wrote that Crosby took the failed trade as a sign he was meant to stay in Las Vegas. Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension in March 2025 that runs through 2029.
Jason La Canfora wrote in a Casino.org piece published Wednesday that an unnamed general manager believes the Raiders’ asking price has not changed since March. Baltimore had agreed to send Las Vegas two first-round picks.
Cowboys Pursued Maxx Crosby Before Ravens Deal Fell Apart
That trade never became official. The Ravens backed out on March 10 after Crosby failed his physical, which came two months after surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee.
Later that night, Dianna Russini, then of The Athletic, reported that Dallas was not expected to re-engage in talks. Cowboys team physician Dr. Dan Cooper was among the doctors the Ravens consulted on Crosby. The Cowboys traded a 2027 fourth-round pick to the Green Bay Packers for edge rusher Rashan Gary the same week.
On March 31, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he did not anticipate revisiting a Crosby trade, though he would not call it impossible. He came back to the subject at the team’s opening training camp news conference on July 28, where he said the Cowboys understood the injury when they bid.
“We didn’t,” Jones said. “We did not walk away. That’s about all there is to say. We understood his injury well. We thought he could help us then. We were surprised by the way that was resolved. To interject anything about what we’re thinking or doing, because he went back to the Raiders, would be a mistake. He’s a Raider.
“If the team is coming along well, then those things stay alive,” Jones continued. “If all of a sudden you don’t think it’s coming along, then those things don’t stay alive. It’s a good indicator of how good we feel about this team. … He’s such a Raider. He’s completely a Raider. He’s happy to be a Raider. Everything in the book. We shouldn’t even be having this kind of discussion.”
Speaking with reporters two days later, Crosby said athletes in his position see the trade talk whether they want to or not. Jarrett Bell of USA Today reported the comments.
“It doesn’t change anything for me, to be honest,” Crosby said. “People act like they don’t. … If you’re an athlete in this position, you see everything. Regardless, if you want to or not.”
Dallas Pass Rush Has 10 Sacks Through Seven Games
Through seven games, the Cowboys have 10 sacks, which ranks 27th in the NFL. Six of them came over the last three games. Gary has 1 sack and 16 tackles.
Dallas traded Micah Parsons to Green Bay in August 2025 for defensive tackle Kenny Clark and two first-round picks. The Cowboys also owe the Jets the higher of their two 2027 first-round picks from the November 2025 trade for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.
Crosby has 2 sacks through seven games this season. He had 10 sacks in 15 games last season and entered 2026 with 69.5 career sacks. The Raiders drafted him in the fourth round, No. 106 overall, out of Eastern Michigan in 2019.
Dallas hosts the Arizona Cardinals at noon CT Sunday at AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys play the Indianapolis Colts at noon CT on Nov. 8, their last game before the deadline.
