‘The Music Will Be Pumping’: Brian Schottenheimer Says Noon Kickoff Changes Nothing After Dallas Cowboys’ Three Straight Prime-Time Games

FRISCO, Texas — The music in the Dallas Cowboys locker room will be blaring before Sunday’s noon kickoff against the Arizona Cardinals, coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday, and Von Miller has a hand in picking it.

Dallas has played three straight prime-time games. The Cowboys lost 24-16 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at AT&T Stadium on Thursday night, Oct. 8, lost 23-13 at the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, Oct. 18, and won 38-21 at the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

Von Miller Helps Pick The Dallas Cowboys’ Game-Day Music

Music is one way to get players moving, and the selections vary, in Schottenheimer’s view. Miller is a pretty good DJ, he said.

“No, I mean, I’m an early morning guy on game days usually anyways, but the music will be pumping. It’ll be blaring,” Schottenheimer said. “I think that’s important. The music gets all these guys up and moving, and different choices of music. One thing Von Miller’s done is he’s a pretty good DJ. He’s involved with some of the music selection. But I think music’s a way to get yourself going.”

“But hey, we can’t be talking about being hungry and motivated to play to our standard and then just because it’s a noon game or whatever it was, three straight primetime games, the game’s not different. You go out and you play, and playing at home should be something that we love to do,” Schottenheimer continued.

Miller was the second overall pick in 2011 by the Denver Broncos and the MVP of Super Bowl 50. Linebacker Shemar James, who calls the Cowboys’ defense, credited Miller on Wednesday with the idea of finding inner peace during the week and playing free on game day.

Brian Schottenheimer Says A Noon Game Is No Different

Sunday is the Cowboys’ first game outside prime time since a 34-30 win at the Houston Texans on Oct. 4, which kicked off at noon CT. It is also only their third home game of the season. Dallas beat the Washington Commanders 37-20 at AT&T Stadium on Sept. 20 in a 3:25 p.m. CT kickoff, then lost to Tampa Bay on Oct. 8.

Schottenheimer wears light blue Jordans on game days. He said Friday that it is not a superstition, though he allowed for a little bit of one.

“No. We were actually talking about that the other day. Not superstitious. I’m ’stitious. Yeah, a little bit. But no, not really,” Schottenheimer explained.

Arizona has won the last four meetings at AT&T Stadium, most recently 27-17 on “Monday Night Football” on Nov. 3, 2025. Dallas is 3-4, and Arizona is 2-5 after a 30-16 loss to Denver. Kickoff Sunday is set for noon CT on FOX.
