Dallas native Jordan Spieth will begin the FedEx Cup Playoffs this week in Memphis, his 14th consecutive PGA Tour postseason.
He got there without a top-10 finish.
Spieth closed the PGA Tour regular season at No. 54 in the FedEx Cup standings after 21 starts. Four finishes inside the top 12 accounted for 52% of his FedEx Cup points, according to The Associated Press.
Those results came at the Masters, Valspar Championship, and two signature events.
Spieth played all eight signature events this season. He needed sponsor exemptions for two of them: the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill and the Travelers Championship.
Spieth earned 125 FedEx Cup points for tying for 11th at Bay Hill. He picked up another seven with a tie for 66th at the Travelers.
The two exemptions were not the difference between making and missing the playoffs. The AP calculated Spieth still would have finished No. 64 without them.
A signature-event winner receives 700 FedEx Cup points, compared with 500 at a standard full-field tournament. The higher point scale continues through 28th place.
Beau Hossler played no signature events or majors this season. He finished No. 72, 31 points short of the playoffs.

Spieth begins the FedEx St. Jude Championship at No. 54.
The top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings after this week’s tournament advance to the BMW Championship at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. Reaching the top 50 would also qualify Spieth for all of the PGA Tour signature events next season.
Spieth has not reached the Tour Championship since 2023. His most recent PGA Tour victory came at the RBC Heritage in April 2022, the 13th Tour win of his career.
One of his best finishes this season came at Augusta National.
Spieth shot a 4-under 68 in the final round of the Masters and tied for 12th at 5-under. He holed out for eagle at the par-5 13th and made a 15-foot birdie on 18.
Rory McIlroy finished seven shots ahead of him at 12-under.
Spieth had not finished that high in a major since tying for fourth at the 2023 Masters.
His 10-year exemption from winning the 2015 U.S. Open at Chambers Bay expired last year. Spieth ended the 2025 season at No. 80 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
FedEx St. Jude Championship Schedule and TV
The FedEx St. Jude Championship runs Thursday through Sunday at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. The tournament has a $20 million purse, with $3.6 million going to the winner.
The top 70 players in the regular-season FedEx Cup standings qualified for the postseason.
ESPN carries the opening two rounds from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. CT on Thursday and Friday. Golf Channel follows from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. CT both days.
Saturday coverage begins on Golf Channel from noon to 2 p.m. CT before moving to CBS from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. CT.
Golf Channel has Sunday’s final round from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT. CBS follows from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. CT.
The BMW Championship follows Aug. 20-23 at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis.
