OXNARD, Calif. — CeeDee Lamb has been watching Camden Brown closely through the opening stretch of training camp. The undrafted rookie has given Lamb plenty to notice. Brown has been physical at the top of routes, attacked the football in the air, and produced in the red zone while competing for a spot in the Dallas Cowboys receiver room.
Dallas signed Brown as part of its initial group of undrafted free agents following the 2026 NFL Draft. Lamb said Brown’s strength at the catch point has continued to show up over the past several practices.
“My man — I’ll use ‘animal,’ man,” Lamb said. “We’re going to start with that. But yeah, no, he’s a dog, man. He’s very physical at the top of the route. He’s real good at getting to his spots and being very strong at the point of attack. So, like, for him, he can high-point the ball.
“I was just talking about him throughout this practice, really the last couple of practices, just on what I liked about him,” Lamb continued. “Yeah, he’s a listener. He loves to learn. He’s very physical. He’s good in the run game. Obviously, you can see what he can do in the red zone.”
Camden Brown’s Path to the Dallas Cowboys
Brown spent three seasons at Auburn before transferring to Georgia Southern for the 2025 season.
His final college season brought a significant jump in production. Brown started all 13 games for Georgia Southern and finished with 65 receptions for 1,079 yards and 14 touchdowns.
He became the first receiver in program history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards in a season. His 1,079 yards and 14 touchdown catches both set Georgia Southern single-season records.
Before the transfer, Brown totaled 26 receptions for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns during his three seasons at Auburn.
Where Camden Brown Fits In The Receiver Room
Lamb and George Pickens give Dallas its established top two options at receiver.
Pickens caught 93 passes for 1,429 yards and 9 touchdowns last season. He will play the 2026 season on a one-year, $27.3 million franchise tag after Dallas did not reach a long-term agreement with him before the July deadline.
Lamb played 14 games in 2025 and finished with 75 receptions for 1,077 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Brown has continued to produce farther down the receiver depth chart during camp.
One of his early catches came on a fade from Sam Howell, who put the pass toward the back pylon. Brown controlled the ball going to the ground for what ESPN described as the catch of the day.
During the first week of camp, Brown also came down with a contested catch in the corner of the end zone during an unpadded practice.
Dallas Cowboys Get Their First Look Against Another Team
Tuesday’s work against the Los Angeles Rams at Rams Village in Woodland Hills gave Brown his first opportunity of camp to compete against another team.
Dallas opens its preseason against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on Saturday, Aug. 15, at 7 p.m. CT.
NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by Sunday, Aug. 30.
