Dallas Cowboys star George Pickens was ranked the seventh-best WR in the NFL by Bleacher Report’s scouting department.
Pickens is behind Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions, teammate CeeDee Lamb, Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams, Jaxon Smith-Njigba of the Seattle Seahawks, Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings and Ja’Marr Chase of the Cincinnati Bengals on Bleacher Report’s top wide receivers list.
“George Pickens was drafted in the second round but clearly was a first-round talent,” Bleacher Report wrote. “He is coming off a career season with the Cowboys, in which he caught 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns. Pickens raised the floor and ceiling of the Cowboys’ passing offense. He had stretches of dominant play and fared well against top corners on the perimeter. Pickens proved he is capable of putting up WR1 numbers, and this was alongside an established star, CeeDee Lamb. Pickens had a stellar season with good route running, great hands, and strong after-the-catch ability. He did it all in 2025.”
In his first season with the Cowboys, Pickens was nothing short of spectacular. He finished with 93 receptions for 1,429 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns en route to making his first Pro Bowl.
Pickens will play the 2026 season on his $27.3 million franchise tender. Dallas acquired the talented wideout from the Pittsburgh Steelers last year.
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has been impressed with Pickens’ play in training camp, which is a good sign that the WR won’t be a distraction this season despite not getting a long-term deal.
“He was as dialed in in meetings as I’ve seen him since he’s been here, just following along, questions,” Schottenheimer said. “I think you’re going to see a very motivated George Pickens going into the season. And I think that’s great news for us and maybe bad news for the rest of the league.”
Pickens enters this season with 267 receptions for 4,270 receiving yards and 21 receiving touchdowns with the Steelers and Cowboys. He played in two playoff games with Pittsburgh in 2023 and 2024, putting up 10 catches for 137 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.
The Cowboys haven’t made the playoffs since 2023. It will be intriguing to see if Dallas makes the postseason this year in Year 2 of the Schottenheimer era.
Pickens and Co. begin the 2026 season against the New York Giants. Pickens had six catches for 77 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown against the Giants last season.
