FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Three days before Tuesday’s 3 p.m. CT trade deadline, the New York Jets have no desire or intention to trade wide receiver Garrett Wilson or running back Breece Hall, multiple sources told The Athletic’s Jonathan Jones.

“It is very unlikely to happen,” one team source told Jones.

New York (2-6) plays at the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Heading into the weekend, the Jets hold the fourth, sixth, and 10th picks in the 2027 NFL Draft, according to Jones, after trading All-Pros Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams last season.

Breece Hall Returns As Braelon Allen Surges

A quad injury suffered in Week 3 has kept Hall out for five straight games. He is expected back this week, Jones reported, and has 51 carries for 163 yards and 1 touchdown this season.

The Jets drafted Hall in the second round, No. 36 overall, out of Iowa State in 2022. He signed a three-year, $45.75 million extension this offseason after his first 1,000-yard rushing season.

In his absence, Braelon Allen became the first Jets running back since 2004 with three straight 100-yard rushing games. Over his last four games, Allen has topped 100 scrimmage yards each time, including 21 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown in last Sunday’s 38-33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Hall still considers the starting job his.

“I’m still a starter, still a very good running back in this league,” Hall said. “Obviously, Braelon’s been playing good. I think him and the offense have caught their stride after the first three, four games. So it’s going to be good to just get in there, just play some ball.”

Offensive coordinator Frank Reich plans to split the work between the two backs.

“We have some plays that are tagged for one or the other, but it’s a great problem to have,” Reich said. “You’ve got two No. 1 backs. Breece is, obviously … our guy, but it’ll be a mix.”

Hall practiced the previous two weeks but was scratched each time after being listed as questionable. Jets coach Aaron Glenn has given the same answer on Hall for months, and he repeated it at his Monday press conference.

“Breece is still a part of this team,” Glenn said. “I’ve said it before: We’re in the business of keeping good players and he’s one of our better players so he’ll be here.”

Hall believes the trade talk tracks fan opinion of his weekly production more than anything the team wants.

“It’s like if I have 100 yards, they love me,” Hall explained. “If I don’t, everybody’s like, ‘Get him out of here.’”

Garrett Wilson On Pace For Another 1,000-Yard Season

After the Jets drafted Wilson 10th overall out of Ohio State in 2022, he won AP Offensive Rookie of the Year that season. He signed a four-year extension before training camp this summer. Even with Wilson currently in the concussion protocol, he is on track for another 1,000-yard receiving season, Jones reported.

Through eight games, Wilson has 444 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns, according to Pro Football Focus. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported last month that the Jets have no interest in trading him.
