FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Stars announced their 2026-27 training camp roster and schedule on Thursday, a 57-player group of 33 forwards, 18 defensemen, and six goaltenders. The on-ice portion of camp begins Thursday, Sept. 17, at Comerica Center, the team’s practice facility in Frisco.
For the first two days, the roster is split into three practice groups. On Sept. 17, Team A skates from 9 to 10:30 a.m. CT, Team B from 11:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., and Team C from 1 to 2:30 p.m. On Sept. 18, Team B takes the 9 a.m. session, Team A moves to 11:15 a.m., and Team C stays at 1 p.m.
On Sept. 19, the schedule divides the roster into game players and non-game players. The game group holds a morning skate at Comerica Center from 10 to 10:30 a.m., flies to St. Louis at 1:45 p.m., and plays the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center at 6 p.m. CT. In Frisco, the rest of the roster practices as Team A from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and as Team B from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, is a day off.
Fans have to RSVP to attend any of the first three days. Entry is through the Comerica Center lobby, which gives access to both sheets of ice. Parking in the attached garage is free. Limited food and beverage will be sold during those three days. The Stars will release the rest of the camp schedule on a weekly basis. All on-ice times are subject to change, according to the team. Before camp opens, 22 Dallas prospects play in the 2026 NHL prospect tournament in Detroit from Sept. 12 through Sept. 15.
Joel Kiviranta, Kyle Burroughs, And Brandon Halverson Join Dallas Stars Camp
Joel Kiviranta returns to a Dallas camp after three seasons in Colorado. He signed a one-year, $1 million contract on July 1. In the team’s announcement, Stars general manager Jim Nill said Dallas’ familiarity with Kiviranta made the signing “an easy choice.” Last season, Kiviranta had 3 goals, 6 assists, and 9 points in 51 games for the Avalanche.
The Stars signed defenseman Kyle Burroughs to a one-year, two-way contract on July 6. Burroughs has played 201 NHL games for Colorado, Vancouver, San Jose, and Los Angeles. He spent last season with the Ontario Reign, the Kings’ AHL affiliate, and had 1 goal, 6 assists, and 7 points in 18 games.
Goaltender Brandon Halverson signed a one-year, two-way contract on July 1. With the Syracuse Crunch, Tampa Bay’s AHL affiliate, Halverson went 24-11-0 with a .905 save percentage and a 2.42 goals-against average in 43 games. His 6 shutouts led the AHL. He also appeared in 2 NHL games for Tampa Bay.
On July 8, the Texas Stars signed forward Michael Sgarbossa to a one-year AHL contract. Sgarbossa spent last season in Switzerland with HC Lugano and SC Bern. He has played 93 NHL games for Colorado, Anaheim, Florida, and Washington.
Tyler Myers is in his first Dallas training camp. The Stars acquired the defenseman from Vancouver on March 4 for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2029 fourth-round pick. Vancouver retained 50% of his $3 million cap hit for the rest of the contract, which ends after this season. Myers had 3 assists in 16 regular-season games for Dallas. Born in Houston, he is the only Texas-born player on the camp roster.
Three of Dallas’ five picks from the 2026 NHL Draft are on the roster. Defenseman Jakub Vaněček went 59th overall, forward Ryan Brown went 155th, and defenseman Mikhail Cherepanov went 219th.
On July 1, Dallas traded forward Mavrik Bourque and defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin to the Nashville Predators for a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 third-round pick. Five other players who appeared for Dallas last season are not on the camp roster: Alexander Petrovic, Nathan Bastian, Michael Bunting, Adam Erne, and Vladislav Kolyachonok.
Tyler Seguin On Camp Roster As Dallas Stars Open Preseason Sept. 19
Tyler Seguin is on the roster after ACL surgery in December. He had 7 goals, 10 assists, and 17 points in 27 games before he was hurt on Dec. 2. Seguin is in the final season of an eight-year, $78.8 million contract. At the Dallas Stars Foundation’s Drive Fore the Kids golf tournament in Carrollton on Tuesday, he declined to say whether he will be available for the Oct. 2 opener, in an availability reported by Robert Tiffin of NHL.com. He also said a setback in the middle of June forced him to stop skating. “I expect to keep getting better every day,” Seguin said.
Jason Robertson led Dallas with 45 goals, 51 assists, and 96 points in 82 games last season. In June, he was named to the NHL’s First All-Star Team. He signed a one-year, $12 million contract on July 21.
In goal, Jake Oettinger went 35-12-6 with a .899 save percentage and a 2.59 goals-against average in 54 games. Casey DeSmith went 15-8-6 with a .907 save percentage and a 2.43 goals-against average in 30 games. Halverson, Rémi Poirier, Arno Tiefensee, and Matthew Humphries are the other four goaltenders in camp.
Under Stars coach Glen Gulutzan, Dallas went 50-20-12 last season. The 112 points put Dallas second in the Central Division. In the first round, the Minnesota Wild eliminated the Stars in six games.
After the opener in St. Louis, Dallas hosts the Blues on Sept. 21 and the Wild on Sept. 23 at American Airlines Center, with both puck drops at 7 p.m. CT. The preseason closes Sept. 25 at Minnesota’s Grand Casino Arena, with a 7 p.m. CT puck drop. The Stars open the regular season against St. Louis on Oct. 2 at American Airlines Center, with an 8 p.m. CT puck drop on TNT.
