FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys offensive line coaches ask their players what to run every time the unit comes off the field, Cooper Beebe said Wednesday at The Star. The center said that back-and-forth matters most against a defense Dallas has not seen.
The Washington Commanders play their second game under defensive coordinator Daronte Jones on Sunday. Offensive line coach Conor Riley and the rest of the staff lean on what the players see in game, Beebe said.
“Oh, I mean, it’s every time, especially in game, every time we come off the sideline. And what I appreciate is they’ll ask us, hey, what do you think? What should we run? Like, what do you think? What are your guys’ thoughts?” Beebe said. “So there’s definitely a lot of back and forth, and especially in a game like this, that’s something you’re going to need.”

Guessing only goes so far against a new coordinator, Beebe said. Rules and fundamentals carry the unit until the sideline adjustments come.
“Yeah, absolutely. You can try to guess as much as you can on what you’re going to see, but at the end of the day, it comes down to your fundamentals. You have rules for a reason every play and there’s definitely going to be a lot of sideline adjustments, but that’s part of it,” Beebe explained. “You got to figure out what the flavor of the day is. If they hit you on something, you’re going to see it again. So it’s just making those adjustments on the sideline. But like you said, we got to go back to what we do well and stay within our fundamentals.”
Riley coached Beebe at Kansas State before both came to Dallas. Riley joined Brian Schottenheimer’s staff in 2025, and the Cowboys drafted Beebe in the third round in 2024.
Cooper Beebe, Dallas Cowboys Line Kept Dak Prescott Clean
Beebe played all 58 offensive snaps in Sunday night’s 28-20 loss to the New York Giants. Dak Prescott was not sacked. Tyler Booker, T.J. Bass, Tyler Guyton, and Terence Steele also played every snap.
Bass started at left guard for Tyler Smith, who is on injured reserve after thumb surgery. Dallas ran 18 times for 69 yards.
Washington sacked Jalen Hurts three times in its 24-22 loss at the Philadelphia Eagles, with Odafe Oweh, Sonny Styles, and Frankie Luvu getting one each. Luvu did not practice Wednesday with a groin injury, and Oweh was limited with a calf injury.
