INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark went to the locker room late in the second quarter Friday against the Dallas Wings after coming down on the foot of Alysha Clark.
Caitlin Clark remained in the game initially but was moving with a limp before checking out. She then went directly to the Indiana locker room.
The Fever had not announced an injury designation or specified what Clark was dealing with before halftime.
Dallas took a 37-35 lead into the break at Gainbridge Fieldhouse after Indiana led 17-15 through the first quarter.
Clark had a team-high 9 points for the Fever before leaving. She added 3 rebounds and 4 assists while shooting 3-of-7 from the field and 3-of-4 at the free-throw line. She missed all 4 of her attempts from 3-point range.
Caitlin Clark Entered Dallas Wings Game On Injury Report
Clark was already listed as probable because of a back injury before Friday’s game.
She had played in 29 of Indiana’s first 33 games this season, averaging 21.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 8.2 assists in 30.4 minutes. Clark entered the night shooting 44.3% from the field, 36.1% from 3-point range and 85.6% at the free-throw line.
Her previous game came Tuesday against the New York Liberty. Clark finished with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 10 assists in Indiana’s 106-92 win.
Aliyah Boston also carried a probable designation Friday because of a lower right leg injury. Damiris Dantas was ruled out with a left knee injury.
Indiana entered the game at 21-12 and first in the Eastern Conference.
Paige Bueckers Leads Dallas Wings At Halftime
Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 12 points in the first half.
Bueckers shot 6-of-13 and also had 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Odyssey Sims scored 11 points and made 3 of her 6 attempts from behind the arc.
Awak Kuier had 7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks. Arike Ogunbowale went into halftime with 3 points and 5 rebounds on 1-of-6 shooting.
Alysha Clark did not score in the half and picked up 2 fouls.
Dallas came into Friday at 20-14 and fourth in the Western Conference.
The Wings were also short-handed. Azzi Fudd was ruled out with a right knee injury, Jessica Shepard remained out with a right ankle injury and Aziaha James did not travel because of a lower left leg injury.
Friday marked Fudd’s fourth consecutive missed game and Shepard’s second.
Dallas Wings, Indiana Fever Meet Again Next Week
Friday is the second of three regular-season games between Dallas and Indiana.
The Wings won the first meeting 107-104 on May 9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Dallas travels to face the Golden State Valkyries on Monday before returning to North Texas. The Wings and Fever meet again Aug. 20 at 7 p.m. CT at American Airlines Center.
At halftime Friday, the immediate question in Indianapolis was whether Caitlin Clark would be able to return after going to the locker room late in the second quarter.
