Arch Manning Goes No. 1 To Miami Dolphins In CBS Sports 2027 NFL Mock Draft

AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning went No. 1 overall to the Miami Dolphins in a 2027 NFL mock draft published Monday by CBS Sports draft analyst Josh Edwards.

Edwards ranks Manning first among all prospects and first among quarterbacks. CBS Sports lists him at 6-foot-4 and 222 pounds. The draft order came from FanDuel Sportsbook’s Super Bowl odds, in reverse, as of Friday afternoon. Those odds had Miami holding the top pick.

Edwards’ first round included five quarterbacks. Oregon’s Dante Moore went second to the Arizona Cardinals, and South Carolina’s LaNorris Sellers went third to the New York Jets. Notre Dame’s CJ Carr went ninth to the Atlanta Falcons. Minnesota’s Drake Lindsey went 11th to the Cleveland Browns after a projected trade with the Washington Commanders.

The 2027 NFL Draft opens April 29 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Arch Manning Through Two Games In 2026

Manning went 20-of-27 for 305 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 1 interception in Texas’ 59-7 win over Texas State on Sept. 5. It was the sixth 300-yard game of his Texas career.

A week later, Texas trailed Ohio State 23-3 entering the fourth quarter. The Longhorns won 24-23 on Sept. 12 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Manning went 23-of-37 for 195 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception. In the fourth quarter, he went 8-of-11 for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian said Manning decided in the fourth quarter to trust his receivers to make plays.

“Part of the driving force was kind of his grit,” Sarkisian said. “I felt like his grit started it, and then the running backs’ grit, and then the receivers’ grit, it all started to kind of work together.”

“But I just thought it was with him kind of saying, ‘Screw it, let’s just go back to letting it rip, and I’m going to trust these guys to go make plays,’” Sarkisian continued.

Through two games, Manning has 500 passing yards, 5 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He and left tackle Trevor Goosby earned SEC weekly honors on Sept. 14. Texas moved to No. 1 in the AP and coaches polls after the win. The full comeback is covered in DSJ’s recap of Texas’ 24-23 win over Ohio State.

Archie, Peyton, And Eli Manning In The NFL Draft

Manning’s grandfather, Archie Manning, went second overall to the New Orleans Saints in the 1971 NFL Draft out of Ole Miss. His uncle Peyton Manning went first overall to the Indianapolis Colts in 1998.

In 2004, the San Diego Chargers made his uncle Eli Manning the first overall pick. San Diego traded him to the New York Giants during the draft.

Manning arrived at Texas in 2023 as the No. 1 overall player in his recruiting class. He started in 2024 while Quinn Ewers was injured and took over as the full-time starter in 2025. Texas finished that season 10-3 and beat Michigan 41-27 in the Citrus Bowl. Manning was named the game’s MVP.

Texas hosts UTSA on Saturday at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT on SEC Network+.
