INDIANAPOLIS — The Dallas Wings opened the 2026 season with a 107-104 road win over the Indiana Fever on Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, behind 22 points from Arike Ogunbowale in her first game in nine months, 20 each from Paige Bueckers and Odyssey Sims, and a near triple-double from Jessica Shepard.
After the game, head coach Jose Fernandez and guards Bueckers, Ogunbowale, and Sims met with reporters at Gainbridge Fieldhouse to discuss the win, the team’s offensive execution, and the defensive cleanup areas the team will carry into the home portion of the schedule. Dallas shot 59.1% from the field, the second-best mark in WNBA season-opener history, and the 107-104 final marked the first regular-season opener in league history in which both teams scored at least 100 points. The Wings return home Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT to host the Atlanta Dream in their home opener at College Park Center.
Fernandez addressed his regular-season debut as Wings head coach, the team’s offensive identity built on ball movement and 3-point shooting, the third-quarter rotations that allowed Indiana to erase a 9-point halftime deficit, and his decision to close the game with a veteran lineup featuring Sims, Ogunbowale, Bueckers, Shepard, and Alanna Smith.
