Texas Rangers Select Jonah Bride From Round Rock, Option Alejandro Osuna, Transfer Jack Leiter To 60-Day IL

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers selected the contract of infielder Jonah Bride from Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday, the club announced. Outfielder Alejandro Osuna was optioned to Round Rock in the corresponding active roster move. To create the 40-man roster spot for Bride, Texas transferred right-hander Jack Leiter from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. With Sunday’s transactions, the Rangers remain at the 40-man limit on the club’s Major League roster.

Bride was issued No. 37 and was in the starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Baltimore Orioles at Globe Life Field. Texas has won the first two games of the series and enters the finale at 59-58, one game behind the Houston Astros in the American League West.

Jonah Bride’s Season At Round Rock

Bride, 30, has batted .282/.401/.425 across 431 plate appearances with the Round Rock Express this season. He has split his defensive time between first base, third base, and left field. Through 80 games in mid-July, he had drawn 57 walks against 65 strikeouts and stolen eight bases.

Texas signed Bride to a minor league contract in November 2025 with an invitation to Major League spring training camp. Over 38 spring plate appearances, he hit .226/.368/.290, and he was reassigned to minor league camp before Opening Day.

The Rangers granted Bride his release on July 13, first reported by Shawn McFarland of The Dallas Morning News. He returned to Round Rock after that release and has added roughly 74 plate appearances with the Express since.

Sunday marks Bride’s first Major League service of 2026. In 214 big league games across four seasons with the Oakland Athletics, Miami Marlins, and Minnesota Twins, he has hit .221/.311/.313 with 12 home runs and 57 RBI in 690 plate appearances. His 2024 season in Miami came under current Rangers manager Skip Schumaker, and he posted a .276/.357/.461 line that year with career highs in games, home runs, and RBI.

Texas has been without third baseman Josh Jung since July 25, when he went on the 10-day injured list with a left calf strain, retroactive to July 22. Catcher Kyle Higashioka is also on the 10-day injured list with a right flexor strain.

Alejandro Osuna Returns To Triple-A

Osuna, 23, hit .255/.347/.297 over 76 games with Texas this season, with 1 home run, 24 RBI, 25 runs, and 5 stolen bases in 220 plate appearances. He started 57 games in the outfield, seeing time in left field, center field, and right field.

As a rookie in 2025, Osuna batted .212/.313/.278 with 2 home runs and 15 RBI across 63 games. He signed with the Rangers as an international free agent in October 2020 and won the organization’s Tom Grieve Minor League Player of the Year award in 2024. Osuna last appeared for Texas on Saturday, entering as a pinch runner in a 5-1 win.

Jack Leiter’s 60-Day Transfer

Leiter went on the 15-day injured list June 21 with a right ankle posterior impingement, retroactive to June 19. He underwent arthroscopic surgery on the ankle two days later to remove a loose body. President of baseball operations Chris Young said the injury dated to April, when Leiter re-aggravated it after slipping on the on-deck circle. Over the All-Star break, Leiter threw a bullpen session, and he has continued throwing off flat ground.

A player moved to the 60-day injured list cannot be reinstated until 60 days from his original placement date, which for Leiter is June 19.

Across 15 starts in 2026, Leiter is 3-7 with a 5.29 ERA, 80.0 innings pitched, and 83 strikeouts. He worked 151.2 innings over 29 starts in 2025 with a 3.86 ERA. Texas drafted Leiter with the second overall pick in 2021 out of Vanderbilt University.

Leiter joins Jordan Montgomery, Carter Baumler, Robert Garcia, Michael Helman, Jalen Beeks, José Corniell, and Danny Jansen on the 60-day injured list.

Right-hander Kumar Rocker (4-8, 4.08) starts Sunday’s finale opposite Baltimore left-hander Cade Povich (2-1, 3.91). First pitch is 1:35 p.m. CT on Rangers Sports Network, with streaming on BZZR. Texas opens a four-game series at the Los Angeles Angels on Monday at 8:38 p.m. CT.
