Texas Rangers Set 2027 Spring Training Game Times, Add Globe Life Field Exhibitions Against Chicago White Sox

ARLINGTON, Texas — Spring training will end at Globe Life Field next March for the Texas Rangers, who announced Thursday that they will host the Chicago White Sox for two exhibition games in Arlington after camp breaks in Arizona. The club also released game times for its 2027 spring schedule.
Game one on Monday, March 22, starts at 7:10 p.m. CT, and the two clubs come back for a 1:10 p.m. CT first pitch the following afternoon. Thursday’s release said ticket information for the Arlington games will come at a later date, and that all dates and times are subject to change.
Before that, Texas wraps up Cactus League play at home against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday, March 20, in Surprise, Arizona. Five days after the Brewers game, the Rangers open the regular season at the Houston Astros on Thursday, March 25, the earliest game date in franchise history.
Texas finished 80-82 in 2026, one game behind Houston in the American League West, and missed the playoffs for the third straight year. At the club’s end-of-season news conference Sept. 28 at Globe Life Field, Rangers manager Skip Schumaker said a couple of the younger players went through growing pains.
“And there’s a couple of guys that have to understand that playing time is earned,” Schumaker said. “And I think it’s a big offseason for a lot of these guys to come into spring training ready to earn a spot.”
Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said Texas did not provide enough options in 2026 when players underperformed, and that building that depth is a front office responsibility.
“Just to piggyback on what Skip said in terms of playing time needs to be earned, it’s one of the jobs of the front office, Ross and me, to create competition and to build out the depth of the team in a way that does provide competition when there’s underperformance,” Young said. “And that’s an area where we need to be accountable, that we did not provide those options to the level that was needed this year.”
“And certainly I recognize that, and it’s something that we are committed to doing better moving forward,” Young continued.
Texas Rangers Schedule Five Night Games In Cactus League Play
Most of the Rangers’ games in Arizona will be played during the day, though eight road game times have not been set yet.
The Rangers and the Los Angeles Dodgers play under the lights twice, first at Camelback Ranch on March 3 and then in Surprise on March 12, with both games starting at 7:05 p.m. CT. Texas also has a 7:10 p.m. CT game at the Seattle Mariners on March 5. Back home, the San Francisco Giants visit for a 7:05 p.m. CT first pitch on March 15, and the Kansas City Royals play the Rangers at that same hour on March 18.
Fifteen of the games are in Surprise, where Texas has held camp every spring since 2003. The Rangers are the home team in 14 of them. They are the visitors only for the Feb. 19 opener against the Royals, who share the Surprise complex with Texas. When the two teams meet there again on March 18, the Rangers will be at home.
The Athletics, Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, White Sox, Cleveland Guardians, Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels, Dodgers, Brewers, San Diego Padres, Giants, and Mariners each visit Surprise once.
Texas will also make at least one trip to each of the other nine Cactus League facilities. The Rangers have multiple visits scheduled to Camelback Ranch, Goodyear Ballpark, Peoria Sports Complex, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, and Tempe Diablo Stadium.
Three split-squad dates put the Rangers in a home game and a road game on the same day. On Monday, Feb. 22, Texas hosts Cleveland and plays at Milwaukee. On Thursday, March 4, the Rangers host the Angels and visit the Cubs. On Monday, March 15, they host San Francisco and visit San Diego.
Thursday’s release lists 31 games on the spring schedule, up from the 29 Cactus League games the club announced Sept. 4.
Rangers Prospects To Face Royals In Spring Breakout Tournament
MLB’s Spring Breakout, which showcases each club’s top prospects, returns for a fourth year in 2027 with a new single-elimination tournament format. The Rangers’ prospect group faces Kansas City’s prospects Monday, March 8, in Surprise.
Individual game tickets for spring training at Surprise Stadium go on sale online Tuesday, Nov. 17, at SurpriseStadium.com. Fans with questions can also call 623-222-2222. The club’s spring broadcast schedule will be announced at a later date.
The spring calendar depends on the league avoiding a work stoppage. The collective bargaining agreement between MLB and the MLB Players Association expires at 10:59 p.m. CT on Dec. 1.
When the last agreement expired Dec. 1, 2021, Texas announced the signings of Corey Seager and Marcus Semien hours before the owners locked out the players. At the September news conference, Young said the front office had already started meeting about the weeks before free agency opens.
“It’s something that we’re cognizant of in terms of the timing. I can’t predict how the market’s going to play out,” Young said. “What I do know is that we have to be prepared, and we’ve already started those meetings today in terms of how to prepare and how we’re going to map out the next four or five weeks until free agency starts.”
“And at that point, we will have a committed plan, and our hope is to execute that really quickly,” Young continued.
After opening the season with three games in Houston and three in Seattle, the Rangers play their home opener Thursday, April 1, against the Athletics at 4:10 p.m. CT.
