FRISCO, Texas — The Texas Legends traded the No. 4 pick in the 2026 NBA G League Draft and the returning player rights to Emanuel Miller to the Grand Rapids Gold, the team announced Thursday. Texas received the No. 3 pick in the same draft, a 2027 first-round pick, and the returning player rights to Kessler Edwards, PJ Hayes, and Derek Ogbeide. All three will play overseas this season, according to the Legends.
The No. 3 pick originally belonged to the Westchester Knicks and came to Grand Rapids through the Valley Suns. The No. 4 pick started with the Oklahoma City Blue and went through the Wisconsin Herd and Grand Rapids before it reached Texas. On July 2, the Legends used the first and third picks in the G League International Draft.
Emanuel Miller Went Through Chicago, Cleveland, And San Antonio After Frisco
Miller last played for the Legends in 2024-25. Over 16 games, he averaged 18.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 37.5 minutes.
On Nov. 26, 2024, Miller scored 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 114-112 win over the Osceola Magic at Comerica Center. The victory was the first of the season for Texas. Edwards pulled down 16 rebounds in the same game.
The Dallas Mavericks signed Miller to an Exhibit 10 contract in July 2024 after he went undrafted out of TCU. Dallas waived him Oct. 18, 2024. Miller, who is from Scarborough, Ontario, played at Texas A&M from 2019 to 2021 and at TCU from 2021 to 2024.
In December 2024, the Chicago Bulls signed Miller to a two-way contract. He appeared in 11 NBA games over two seasons with Chicago and scored 25 points in 58 minutes.
Chicago traded Miller to the Cleveland Cavaliers in February as part of a three-team deal with the Sacramento Kings. Cleveland waived him Feb. 20 without playing him. The San Antonio Spurs signed him to a two-way contract three days later.
Before the move to San Antonio, Miller averaged 18.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 27 G League games with the Windy City Bulls and Cleveland Charge. San Antonio waived him in July.
Kessler Edwards, PJ Hayes, And Derek Ogbeide Head Overseas Before Legends Open Nov. 8
Edwards spent 2024-25 with the Mavericks and the Legends. In 40 games for Dallas, including 18 starts, he averaged 4.2 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. He shot 49.6% from the field and 40.7% from 3-point range.
The Brooklyn Nets took Edwards out of Pepperdine in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft, 44th overall. He also played for Sacramento before signing with Dallas.
Last season, Edwards started with Grand Rapids and joined Hapoel Tel Aviv in February. He averaged 3.8 points and 3.4 rebounds in 13 EuroLeague games, according to the EuroLeague. He went 8-of-15 from 3-point range. Virtus Bologna announced a multiyear agreement with Edwards on July 10.
Pallacanestro Reggiana, which plays in Italy’s Lega Basket Serie A along with Virtus Bologna, announced June 27 that Ogbeide will play for the club in 2026-27. The center split last season between the San Diego Clippers and Grand Rapids.
Ogbeide played at Georgia from 2015 to 2019. In 2021, he was named league MVP in Cyprus with AEK Larnaca. With Pistoia in 2023-24, he averaged 11.6 points and 8.6 rebounds and led Serie A in rebounding, according to Reggiana.
Hayes spent three seasons at Division II Black Hills State before transferring to San Diego. In 2023-24, he started all 32 games for the Toreros and averaged 10.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.1 assists. He made 73 3-pointers at a 39.7% clip. At Portland on Jan. 23, 2024, Hayes scored 33 points and went 9-of-14 from 3-point range. His 9 made 3-pointers set a San Diego record.
At Rutgers in 2024-25, Hayes averaged 2.9 points in 23 games to close his college career. The Legends did not name the team Hayes will play for this season.
Legends coach Nate Mitchell will lead Texas this season. The Mavericks named Mitchell to a dual role as a Dallas assistant and Legends head coach Sept. 15.
The Legends open their 50-game schedule Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Mexico City Capitanes, with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. CT. Frisco hosts the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the home opener Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. CT at Comerica Center, where the team will hold its military night. Broadcast information for the season has not been released.
