MINNEAPOLIS — Russell Wilson started his 2026 season preview with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. On CBS Sports, Wilson asked whether Dak Prescott is going to take Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to a Super Bowl.
Wilson was in Minneapolis, where CBS has the Minnesota Vikings against the Green Bay Packers at 3:25 p.m. CT. He retired in June after 14 seasons. Matt Ryan left CBS Sports’ “The NFL Today” in January to become the Atlanta Falcons’ president of football, and Wilson replaced him on a panel with James Brown, Bill Cowher, and Nate Burleson.
Russell Wilson Names Dak Prescott, George Pickens, And CeeDee Lamb
The last name on Wilson’s Dallas list is Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer, who kept the play-calling for a second season.
“I believe this year, this year particularly, is a year of shock and surprise,” Wilson said. “I believe that Dak Prescott, is he going to take Jerry Jones to the Super Bowl? I’m thinking about that right now. That’s what we’re doing. Dallas. Dak Prescott. George Pickens. CeeDee Lamb. Come on now. Schottenheimer calling plays.”
Prescott finished last season third in the NFL in passing yards. He threw for 4,552 yards with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Dallas finished 7-9-1. The Cowboys have missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.
Their offense ranked second in the league in total yards. Dallas scored 471 points, seventh in the NFL.
George Pickens caught 93 passes for 1,429 yards and 9 touchdowns in his first season in Dallas. CeeDee Lamb played 14 games and finished with 75 receptions, 1,077 yards, and 3 touchdowns. Rather than sign Pickens to a long-term extension, Dallas placed the franchise tag on him in the offseason.
Lamb said last month that he and Pickens can be “real, real vicious together” in a second season on the same side.
At the scouting combine in February, Schottenheimer turned down a Philadelphia Eagles request to interview offensive coordinator Klayton Adams for their play-calling job, The Dallas Morning News reported.
Russell Wilson on Kyler Murray And Lamar Jackson
Wilson’s other quarterback is Lamar Jackson, who opens the season under a coaching staff Baltimore hired in January.
“But then I think about this. I think about our guy, Kyler Murray,” Wilson explained. “Kyler Murray. Can he do what Sam Darnold did, and can he pick it up for him? I’m excited to see it. I’m excited to experience this. It’s going to be a year of shock and surprise. And Lamar Jackson too, new coach and everything else.”
Arizona released Kyler Murray in March. Minnesota signed him to a one-year contract on March 12. Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell named him the Week 1 starter during training camp, and Sunday is Murray’s first game with the Vikings.
Seven seasons in Arizona produced 20,460 passing yards, 121 touchdowns, and 60 interceptions. A foot injury limited Murray to five games in 2025. Arizona placed him on injured reserve in November.
Baltimore fired John Harbaugh on Jan. 6 after 18 seasons. Jesse Minter came from the Los Angeles Chargers staff to replace him. In 13 games last season, Jackson threw for 2,549 yards with 21 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. The Baltimore Ravens finished 8-9.
Fourteen seasons in Seattle, Denver, Pittsburgh, and New York gave Wilson 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdowns, and 114 interceptions. He was selected to 10 Pro Bowls and won Super Bowl XLVIII. Wilson started three games for the New York Giants in 2025. On 119 attempts he finished with 831 yards and 3 touchdowns. His last NFL season ended Jan. 4 at MetLife Stadium against Dallas.
Sunday is Harbaugh’s first game as Giants coach. Kickoff at MetLife Stadium is 7:20 p.m. CT on NBC.
