INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton has a strained left hamstring and will miss time, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

How long Haliburton will be sidelined is currently unknown, as Pacers team doctors and Haliburton are still gathering a clear timeline for his recovery.

Haliburton missed all of last season recovering from the right Achilles tendon tear he suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The two-time All-Star is averaging 21.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game this season and shooting 51.6% from the field, 37.0% from beyond the arc and 86.7% from the free-throw line.

Indiana is 2-2 entering Wednesday’s (10/28) home game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The Pacers defeated the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 1, lost to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2, defeated the Brooklyn Nets in Game 3 and lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 4.

Haliburton, 26, has played for the Sacramento Kings and Pacers. He has career averages of 17.6 points and 8.9 assists per game in the regular season and 17.9 points and 8.4 assists per game in the playoffs.

The Pacers signed Haliburton to a five-year, $244.62 million extension in July 2023. Haliburton is making $48.9 million this season.

Without Haliburton, Indiana won only 19 games last season. The Pacers went 50-32 during the 2024-25 season and beat the Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference playoffs to reach the NBA Finals. Haliburton averaged 18.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 9.8 assists per game against the Bucks, Cavaliers and Knicks.

The Pacers were winning Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals against the Thunder when Haliburton tore his Achilles. Indiana may have won the championship had Haliburton not gotten injured. The Iowa State product finished the Pacers-Thunder series with averages of 14.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.

It will be intriguing to see how long Haliburton is out for. The Pacers will be cautious with their franchise player since he’s coming back from an Achilles tear.
