FRISCO, Texas — Rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham is listed behind Dee Winters on the Dallas Cowboys’ unofficial depth chart for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Two days earlier, Barham started at middle linebacker and wore the green dot in a 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders.
DeMarvion Overshown, who missed Sunday’s game with a strained hamstring, is listed atop the other inside linebacker spot. Second-year linebacker Shemar James is behind him. The Cowboys released the chart Tuesday.
Barham had 7 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and a quarterback pressure in his second NFL game. With Dallas ahead 20-13 in the third quarter, he forced a fumble that Winters recovered. Dak Prescott threw a touchdown pass after the turnover to make it 27-13.
Winters led the Cowboys with 9 tackles. Dallas took Barham in the third round of April’s draft, 92nd overall, out of Michigan.
Kenny Clark, Quinnen Williams Back Jaishawn Barham After Dallas Cowboys Win
The green dot put Barham in charge of relaying defensive coordinator Christian Parker’s calls to the rest of the defense. Kenny Clark is listed as the starting nose tackle in front of him. Clark said after the game that Barham was physical at the point of attack.
“Just commanding the huddle, doing everything that he’s coached to do,” Clark said. “Coming out there being physical at the point of attack, getting guys lined up in the right spot, communicating all day. He did a great job today.”
Barham handled the green dot in only his second regular-season game. Quinnen Williams said he sees Barham make the same plays in practice.
“The plays he is making, man, it’s super dope,” Williams said. “I see him making them in practice, and we’re super confident in him. [He] keeps building on the things he does well, and just like all of us, build on the things we’ve got to correct and just keep going, man. He played a great game. He played phenomenal.”
“When it comes to wearing a green dot, as a rookie, second game of the year, getting everybody in order, especially up front, and different things like that, [he] just continues to build on it,” Williams continued. “We’ve all got huge trust in him.”
DeMarvion Overshown Status Still Open For Dallas Cowboys In Rio
Barham suffered a stinger Sunday, and Winters hurt his shoulder early in the second quarter. Both returned. Dallas Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said Monday that he does not expect to manage either one’s workload this week.
“No, I think they’re going to both be fine,” Schottenheimer said. “Jaishawn was OK. Dee as well. But no, both those guys should be fine.”
Overshown strained his hamstring in the 28-20 loss to the New York Giants on Sept. 13 after making 7 tackles. He was still in the rehab group Monday, and he has made good progress, Schottenheimer said.
“Got to get through the week,” Schottenheimer explained. “It could be tough just because it’s a shorter week for us, but I’m not saying no.”
Dallas elevated linebackers Curtis Robinson and Justin Barron from the practice squad for the Washington game. James replaced Winters in the second quarter Sunday before Winters came back.
