‘Of All Time’: Miami Heat’s Giannis Antetokounmpo Calls Los Angeles Lakers’ Luka Dončić One Of The Best Scorers In NBA History

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Miami Heat on Monday (11/2) behind another sensational performance from Luka Dončić.
The former Dallas Mavericks superstar put up 42 points in 36 minutes. It was Dončić’s fourth 40-plus-point game in his past five games.
After the game, new Heat star Giannis Antetokounmpo raved about Dončić’s elite scoring skills.
“Obviously, he’s one of the best scorers to play this game, if not the best,” Antetokounmpo said. “Not right now. Of all time. I feel like some people are scared to say that, but he’s got to be up there.”
Dončić is putting up incredible numbers for the Lakers so far this season. The future Hall of Famer is averaging 38.3 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game while shooting 49.7% from the field, 42.7% from beyond the arc and 88.7% from the free-throw line.
Dončić Is Off To An MVP Start
The 27-year-old Dončić has played in seven games this season. He missed one game because of a back injury. His scoring outputs this season are 28, 23, 52, 41, 37, 45 and 42.
Dončić averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game last season. He led the NBA in points per game and total points.
The Lakers improved to 6-2 after defeating the Heat. Is this the year Dončić finally wins his first NBA MVP? Only time will tell.
“Obviously, when we win, it feels way better,” Dončić said after the Lakers beat the Heat in LA. “But obviously, it feels good.”
Luka Is 3rd In NBA History In PPG
Dončić has career averages of 29.3 points per game in the regular season with the Mavericks and Lakers. That’s good for third in NBA history.
Michael Jordan (30.12) is first, followed by the late great Wilt Chamberlain (30.07).
Dončić is second (30.85) in NBA history in points per game in the playoffs. Jordan is first (33.45).
A six-time All-Star, Dončić has only been to the NBA Finals once. The Mavericks lost to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals in five games.
If Dončić leads the Lakers to a championship in the post-LeBron James era, he will likely get a statue outside Crypto.com Arena one day.
