DSJ Quick Take: Dak Prescott Says the Rams Joint Practice Could Be the First of Three Meetings
Dak Prescott said Tuesday’s joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams is a test, and that he assumes the two teams will meet three times if both take care of business. Dallas and Los Angeles also play in Week 15.

OXNARD, Calif. — Dak Prescott said Tuesday’s joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams could be the first of three meetings between the two teams this season.
The Dallas Cowboys make the roughly 40-mile drive east from Oxnard to Woodland Hills, California, on Tuesday. The teams also meet in Week 15 of the regular season.
Prescott said he and CeeDee Lamb talked about the practice that morning. He’s assuming a January rematch.
“It’s all you can ask for,” Prescott said of the joint practice. “CeeDee [Lamb] was just talking about it today, looking forward to Tuesday. Looking forward to just us getting better, understanding this is a team that we’re going to play in the season, and it’s probably a team that if we want to get to where we want to get to, we’re going to have to see them again. So call this probably the first of three meetings, I’d assume if everybody takes care of business. It’s definitely going to be a test, it’s going to be fun.”
The Los Angeles Rams Defense the Dallas Cowboys Will Face
Los Angeles lost the NFC Championship Game to Seattle last season. The Rams spent the offseason rebuilding the defense.
Los Angeles traded for Myles Garrett in June, sending Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick, and a 2028 second-round pick to Cleveland. Garrett is the reigning Defensive Player of the Year and has won the award twice in the last three seasons. He recorded 23.0 sacks last season and has 125.5 for his career.
The Rams acquired cornerback Trent McDuffie from Kansas City on March 4 for the No. 29 pick along with 2026 fifth- and sixth-round selections and a 2027 third-rounder. McDuffie signed a four-year, $124 million extension days later, making him the highest-paid cornerback in the league. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2023 and a second-team selection in 2024.
Garrett’s availability for Tuesday isn’t settled. He missed four straight practices with lower-body soreness before returning to the field on Wednesday.
A Familiar Face on the Dallas Cowboys Sideline
Cornerback Cobie Durant spent his first four NFL seasons with the Rams before signing with Dallas this offseason. Durant has already produced in Oxnard, breaking up a deep ball from Prescott to Marquez Valdes-Scantling during Tuesday’s practice.
Dallas allowed 511 points last season, the most in the NFL, and hired Christian Parker as defensive coordinator in January.
The Cowboys hold a second joint practice, against the New Orleans Saints, on Aug. 18. Camp in Oxnard closes the same day. Dallas opens the preseason at the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday with kickoff set for 7 p.m. CT on NFL Network.
