‘Every Game Is A Must-Win’: CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott Say 3-5 Dallas Cowboys Can’t Worry About Standings

FRISCO, Texas — CeeDee Lamb said Thursday that every game left on the Dallas Cowboys’ schedule is a must-win, and Dak Prescott said a 3-5 team has no business looking at the standings yet.
Dallas has nine games left after a 33-30 overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals, starting Sunday at the Indianapolis Colts. The math still leaves Dallas room at the midpoint. Lamb does not want to hear that.
“Every game is a must-win,” Lamb said. “Honestly, I don’t like when y’all say that. It’s not a must… they’re must-wins. Every single one of these games are must-wins.”
Dak Prescott Says Pressure Is A Privilege
Prescott welcomed the idea. He said every game should be prepared for that way, because none of it is guaranteed.
“I love it. I love it. And my position and being who I am for this organization, I think it raises the level. And I felt it. And so to hear other guys saying it and maybe feeling it, that’s good. That’s good to me,” Prescott said. “You should play and you should approach and prepare every game that way. Like, that should be the way it is, because it’s different than our first conversation, the first question asked. Like, none of this is guaranteed.”
“And so I’m not going to cheat the way that I do it. And if I’m going to do something, it’s a must-win. I’ve put everything into it. Those are the results that I expect to get from it,” Prescott continued. “I love that the guys are feeling the pressure. I love that everybody, or hopefully more people, are saying that and feeling it’s a must-win, and let’s see what we do.”
The standings can wait, in Prescott’s view. A 3-5 record says enough.
“I think we’re fortunate based on the season in our division that, yeah, we don’t need to look at the standings right now. However, our record says enough for me that we need to focus on our own. We don’t need to look left or right,” Prescott explained. “Before we even worry about the standings, we need to get to the place that we’re confident and comfortable that if and when we do get in the tournament, that we’re a team that people should be scared of.”
Tyler Smith Says The Division Is Still Open
Offensive lineman Tyler Smith said Dallas sits second in the NFC East and can still win it, starting with Indianapolis.
“We do have a lot of football left. Like, the floor is wide open. We’re second in the NFC East or whatever. And we can win the division, but that starts with this week. That starts with beating the Colts,” Smith said. “To me, just putting together performance after performance and just doing things the right way.”
The urgency has always been there, Smith said. What has to rise is the urgency to make corrections.
“I feel like the urgency is always high, bro. Like, even when it was 0-0, I felt like the urgency to win was always there. But I do feel like the urgency to make the corrections and being intentional with that definitely has to be higher than it’s been,” Smith said.
The New York Giants lead the NFC East. Dallas hosts the San Francisco 49ers on Nov. 15 and the Philadelphia Eagles on Thanksgiving. Kickoff in Indianapolis is set for noon CT Sunday on FOX.
