‘Blow The Roof Off The Place’: CeeDee Lamb Wants 2 Touchdowns In Dallas Cowboys Home Opener

FRISCO, Texas — CeeDee Lamb said Thursday he can’t wait for the Dallas Cowboys home opener Sunday against the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium.

Dallas went 4-3-1 at home in 2025, losing to Arizona, Minnesota, and the Los Angeles Chargers and tying Green Bay 40-40. The Cowboys beat Washington 44-22 in Arlington last October.

Lamb wants to score a couple of touchdowns Sunday.

“Can’t wait. Can’t wait,” Lamb said. “I know the city’s going to be rocking. Know the game’s going to be fire. The energy’s going to be there. Can’t wait to just go out there and have everybody excited, score a couple touchdowns for y’all, and then blow the roof off the place.”

Every win is an urgent win for Lamb, not only the ones that follow a loss.

“We just want to go out there and win,” Lamb explained. “We don’t look or prepare to go out there and lose at all. So I wouldn’t say it’s not really, I mean, it’s everything. Every win is an urgent win. I don’t want to say it’s just urgent as if, just because we lost, you feel what I’m saying? Regardless of the situation, we want to win regardless.”

“Yeah, we lost,” Lamb added. “We knew what we had to do. We got to, we got to battle back, but overall, man, we want to put pieces together, put our best tape out, study that and get better from there.”

CeeDee Lamb On Staying Ready With Fewer Possessions

After halftime against the New York Giants on Sept. 13, Dallas had two possessions and scored on both. Lamb’s focus is on scoring when the offense gets its opportunities.

“Honestly, it’s just, I feel like we just got to be like the second half, we scored on the two drives that we did have the ball,” Lamb said. “So I feel like just making most of every opportunity that we do have, because in this game, obviously, you never know when you’re going to get the ball back. You might get it right back the next play. You feel what I’m saying? Just always being ready for a sudden change and whatever the game throws. I mean, no one can really just plan out exactly how an NFL football game is going to go. But I guess for us on offense, what we can do is put the ball in the end zone when we get our ops.”

Lamb talks with coaches on the sideline about which plays could be coming next.

“You stay ready, man. You got to stay ready,” Lamb said. “I feel like I’ve learned a lot as far as just having some patience on the sideline, regardless if I’m in the game or out the game, if offense is on the field or off the field. You feel what I’m saying? Just staying in tune with the game and just, again, just preparing and going off talking to the coaches, understanding like what plays that we could possibly have coming up.”

“So I can mentally put myself in that moment and then understand what kind of coverage that they’re going to play against us, and which I’ve seen already as far as a couple times that I’ve been out there,” Lamb continued. “Just, again, just fast forward, or foreshadowing myself into the game, putting myself in that moment. So when it comes, it just feels like normal.”

CeeDee Lamb On Routine And Responding To Losses

Lamb caught 5 passes for 44 yards and a touchdown against New York. Running back Javonte Williams drew a taunting penalty on his fourth-quarter touchdown catch, and the extra point that followed was missed.

No mental errors and no flags is the standard after a loss for Lamb. He wants it every week.

“Just understanding in the preparation,” Lamb said. “You feel what I’m saying? You know how you felt in the loss. You know how the game was going. You know the momentum was shifting. You kind of have a feel for it as a player and as a coach. I mean, as a fan as well, you feel the momentum. You feel everything.”

“But as far as being the one out there executing, you know you got to tighten up your routes,” Lamb added. “You got to tighten up your alignment, your assignments, and then no mental errors, man. We can’t have no flags. We can’t really. We just want to play as much of a perfect game as we possibly can, and I feel like we do that well after a loss. But I don’t really, again, I don’t want it to be just after a loss. We need to do that every single week, going in and just preparing for everybody’s best game, because that’s what we’re going to get.”

Routine is preparation, and preparation is confidence, as Lamb describes his week.

“Very important, because I feel like routine is preparation,” Lamb said. “Preparation is everything. Preparation is more confidence for me. Because once you go out there every day and practice and you running these routes, from our perspective, you run these routes all week long, you know how, well, I mean, you got your trial and errors. You ran it versus different coverages. So you got a feel for it.”

“So I feel like just being prepared in the moment and going out there and letting loose,” Lamb detailed. “I feel like you got, that’s when the game is the most fun. You’re not thinking too much and playing a child’s game.”

Dallas faces the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 27 at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Lamb had one line on getting ready for that trip: “We’ll get to next week when I get there.”

Kickoff against Washington on Sunday is set for 3:25 p.m. CT on Fox. The Ravens game kicks off at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sept. 27.
