FRISCO, Texas — Brandon Aubrey has made more field goals of 60 yards or longer than anyone in NFL history. The Dallas Cowboys kicker said Thursday at The Star that he gives no thought to long-term accomplishments or goals.
His 60-yarder in Sunday’s 37-20 win over the Washington Commanders was the seventh of his career, extending the record. In April, Dallas signed him to a four-year, $28 million extension with $20 million guaranteed.
“It means I’m here another week, which is good,” Aubrey said. “Trying to hold on to a roster spot as long as possible and make as many kicks as I possibly can while I’m here. So there’s no thought really into it as far as accomplishments or goals long-term. It’s just make the kick they put in front of me.”
“And I’ve been fortunate, and also I’ve done well with the opportunities that I’ve been given, but not everyone gets those opportunities,” Aubrey continued. “And once you get the first one, if you kind of mess it up, I don’t think you’re going to get another one for a while. So I’ve been fortunate to be on a spot where they gave me the opportunity and then been good enough to keep running with them.”
Brandon Aubrey’s Path From Soccer To Dallas Cowboys
Aubrey went to Plano High School and played soccer at Notre Dame. He spent two years in professional soccer and was working in software engineering before he began kicking footballs in 2019. He won two titles with the Birmingham Stallions of the USFL, in 2022 and 2023, and signed with Dallas shortly before training camp in 2023.
He was a first-team All-Pro and led the NFL in scoring as a rookie. He was a second-team All-Pro in 2024 and 2025 and has been to three Pro Bowls. This season, he is 3-for-3 on field goals and 6-of-7 on extra points. The miss was a 48-yard try in the opener at MetLife Stadium, after a taunting penalty turned a planned two-point attempt into a kick.
Brandon Aubrey Returns To Brazil
Aubrey has been to Brazil once before, as a youth soccer player.
“No, I went to São Paulo and outskirts of São Paulo for soccer a long time ago,” Aubrey explained. “I was like 12 or 10 or something like that.”
He does not speak Portuguese.
“Oh, zero,” Aubrey said. “Whatever Spanish words are the exact same in Portuguese, I’ve got those. So maybe ‘no.’ ‘No’ is one, right?”
Receiver George Pickens said Wednesday that he will not leave the team hotel in Rio. The Cowboys fly out Thursday night and are scheduled to land back in Dallas around 8 a.m. Monday.
“No, no, we’re gonna be in a bubble, so I don’t think family would have much interaction with us while we’re out there,” Aubrey said. “Just keep them home, keep them on their normal schedules. No reason to get everyone out of whack.”
